PEC GT Experience
Discussion
Has anyone tried the GT Experience at PEC Silverstone? Advertised as 30 mins in a Carrera and then 120 minutes split across three 997 and 991 GT or RS cars?
I fancy another GT car and am weighing up 996, 997.1 and 997.2 GT3 RS. This seems like a good way to get decent seat time in the 997s, but i don't want to turn up and find its actually 15 mins of slow driving in each one.
Anyone done it and would you recommend it?

I haven't done it but it won't be 15 mins of slow driving, they'll definitely let you drive the car as fast as they think you're capable of. Only thing is on their circuits it's first and second gear corners but the circuit is designed that even at those speeds you'll get to feel the differences in the cars.
I'd check exactly which cars they have at the moment/are likely to be available.

you wont get much from it imo as you just about stay in the same gear !I fancy another GT car and am weighing up 996, 997.1 and 997.2 GT3 RS. This seems like a good way to get decent seat time in the 997s, but i don't want to turn up and find its actually 15 mins of slow driving in each one.

all I can say is in the 997.2 RS you might feel the shorter ratio helps there.
luck of the draw on the day, I have been and it's been too busy, also been and hooned around the track for 30 laps.
Can’t recommend this enough for an experience, but also a taste for what to direction to go for buying.
I did the experience in September. Was fairly busy but I got plenty of space. Very relaxed and I gave all the cars a good thrashing, without limits and too much traffic.
My instructor let me choose what I wanted to do and how long in each car, just very relaxed. He just said, you choose and tell me when your ready to move on to the next. He did warn me that i was on the limit and if I pushed harder the the 991.2 GT3 that it would start to slide, and if you spin you go in to debrief, so it’s worth not going past this point and risking loosing your time.
I did 20 mins in 991.2 C2S Cab warm up, about 30mins in the white 997 GT2, then another 30 mins in the white / gold 997 GT3 RS and finished 40 minutes the Guards red 991.2 GT3.
You can get into 3rd and extend 3/4 of the way through that gear before having to hammer the brakes (GT2 Boost in 3rd is scarily bonkers!).
All cars where great and I’d pay and do it again tomorrow. Where else can you drive those three GT cars back to back. I’ll be looking for a 997.2 after that experience.

I would like to echo the sentiments of this post, my experience was very similar. The PEC track is not perfect (you will be in 2nd gear most of the time) but it packs in a wide variety of corners, and where else can you drive several GT cars back-to-back? There are also novelties like the skid pad, but I would focus on getting laps in on the GT experience.I did the experience in September. Was fairly busy but I got plenty of space. I started mine in a manual 991.2 GTS for a few warmup laps, before driving a manual 997.2 GT2 RS, followed by a PDK 991.2 GT3 and 991.1 RS. Then finished off in the 997 as it was my pick of the bunch (found the more recent gens quite isolated/aloof), including several traffic-free laps after everyone else had finished for the day.
The great thing is - and this goes for all the PEC experiences - that the instructors let you push as much as you want and offer as much or as little help as you want. You also get the full time advertised, if not more. I would thoroughly recommend it as a unique and memorable experience, even though the price is quite high.
Pretty much agree with views posted. I used a GTS 991.2 last summer and found the handling track showcased the capability of the car to go/turn/stop, but after a dozen or so laps I didn't really learn a great deal other than the car was more capable than me. My instructor (ex police) was excellent and freely offered advice when asked, happy to use the 2 hours or so we were in the car as I wanted.
The handling rack is short and narrow and a bit frantic. Best part for me was the quick road driving experience, but I came away thinking I've been on many better track events, though the skid pan was fun and not something I'd ever done before.
My day was complimentary, but I'd have been miffed if I'd forked out my own money.

What day of the week have people done theirs on? Had a Saturday booked but wondering if this will actually be much busier 'on track' and should move to a week day slot.
It’s full/busy any day of the week....my advice is get there as early as possible and try and get out on track as early as possible. The first hour is definitely quieter. Just back from doing it today .........only. in same car I bought a 991.2 GT3RS .... was a nice day , food good , really nice lady instructor .. Blew around both short tracks , which even made me as a driver feel a bit ill , but she was robust . But the fun really was drifting and doing donuts , I know childish but spent most of the time doing that and trying to go faster through the skid pan ... which is amazing once over 30 mph on entry it throws you sideways very fast ... and hard to control ... overall yes fun day .
Gents I’d be interested too know whether you were able to say which cars you wanted to try and whether there was any flexibility from PEC ?
From what the website says you get
997 GT
997 RS
991 GT/RS
I’d be interested to do it but ideally want 997.2 GT3 and RS and a 991.2 GT3 RS! I’d be a bit gutted if I got the 997.1 RS instead of the .2!

Admittedly I haven't done the GT experience it yet but when I spoke to PEC they said it is down to the luck of the draw on the day, though you can request a car - they can't guarantee it.

Slightly O/T, but has anyone driven their own car on this?
I'm not keen on track days but would like the opportunity to explore closer to my car's limits in relative safety - this looks like a decent option.

I haven't. But know people that have. PCGB have a 'drive your own' at the PEC once a year. I'm not keen on track days but would like the opportunity to explore closer to my car's limits in relative safety - this looks like a decent option.
