Amazing how long that mint green GT3 sat in the classifieds unsold....£105k virtually sat on the forecourt for 12 months. I agree nicest one out there.
I also dislike mint green, I thought mint green was a GTS though with buckets etc not a GT3.
It’s a GT3. Owner on here or used to be.
There’s also a 991.1 GTS in Mint Green which someone on here owned, that’s what 911R is thinking about I believe....think it’s gone through several owners and not done many miles.

Don’t know why but the Mint Green 997.2 GT3 looks miles better than the GTS. It’s literally the only car I think Mint Green works on!
There's a guy in my home town who likes a PTS pork, currently it's a Cayman in that luminous yellow/green they paint the highbred callipers in.

He previously had (I think it was him anyway) a Cayman in Mint Green but I feel it doesn't really work on the more modern cars. There are always exceptions to the rules of course but I see some colours as linked to a certain model.

Mint Green, Rubystone and Maritime are 964
Riviera is 993

Etc, etc

I spoke to them earlier in the week and there is still some fat in it and they would consider selling the car with 1 not 2 years warranty if it helped close the sale

I’m sure it would!

It would definitely need to have a two year warranty if they want to sell it for over 70k!

Well I got the call today to confirm that the Glasgow car is now sold! It really was a lovely example so i dont doubt the new owner will be very happy.

...but sofas. Can any 997 owners confirm what the non-bucket seats are like on hard cornering, i.e. on track. Do they hold you in on Druids Brands Hatch, for instance

I had heard (FWTW) that Recaro's need special runners in 911's else they sit very high - higher than the stock seats.

As someone who has had his stock seat modified to get a lower driving position, this concerns me.

Can anyone with actual knowledge comment?

Not convinced they’re any worse than most modern (ish) cars from that perspective Neil.
Worst case scenario if height is an issue, you’d mount the brackets directly to the floor and delete the runners. Use mounts from someone like these guys :

https://www.bkauto.com/category_s/183.htm

The floor pan/seat mounting brackets are the same across 986/987/996/997, I think the problem has arisen as Porsche has introduced ever more fancy bucket seats which have to accommodate airbags etc etc.
My Cayman R folding buckets were mounted ridiculously high. When I got to drive a mates Gen 1 Cayman S fitted with the multi adjustable sports seats, Ivwas staggered that I could get them what felt like 2-3” lower than the fine looking but stupidly high buckets in my supposedly sportier model.

I don’t know the car, however my advice is call Tom at 911V - they really are one of the good guys - they really know thier cars and only take in good stock and price them fairly - I’ve bought two cars from them, both over the phone without even seeing them , I really trust Tom and the team , they’ll give you good impartial advice.

Nice looking car - I imagine it will not be around long ; 997 GT3’s are epic.

Personally I wouldn’t mount direct to floor, been there done that and a real pita to get correct driving position. Plus when cruising to and from tracks you can’t adjust seat for a bit of extra leg room on long journeys.
I too like to sit as low as possible my seat base scrapes the carpets in my car using one of these:
https://shop.gmgracing.com/collections/all/product...

BBI do cheaper version and I’ve seen a much cheaper version on Design 911 all be without harness bar. Using this set up my seat is only 5mm higher than when it was bolted to the floor and I have runners for flexibility

Certainly on the comfort seats in my 996 turbo, I had to pre-emptively tilt my head to one side over some of the crests at the Nurburgring, in order not to know my crash helmet against the roof (which is surprisingly uncomfortable and disconcerting). I reckon anyone much over 5'10" tall would struggle on comfort seats with a crash helmet.

The buckets are way better, although the compromise then is that you can't quite see the nose of the car as well if you're negotiating obstacles -speed humps etc. - at low speed.

I'm a fan of buckets and had them in both of my last two cars for track (964 and Cayman R). My GT4 has the sofas (sport plus seats which look very similar to the ones in that 997 GT3). I've had zero issues with using them on track. Some of the corners at Spa (Rivage and La Source in particular) would find them out...but nope, never found that I was falling out of them. Or felt that they were limiting my track driving. I use a CG lock on the belt which helps make them even more secure. Probably more of an issue for passengers though because they're not hanging on to a steering wheel...had one or two passengers get a little queasy after a few laps! biggrin

Afternoon Steve, hope you’re well ?
That possibly says more about your driving than about seat heights/types or things to hold on to ...

Matty and I mounted a pair of Sparco directly to the floor in my 1M.

Not only did it transform the car, I had no issues whatsoever getting and remaining comfortable. But we did put a lot of time and effort into getting their positioning absolutely spot on, rather than “that’ll do/that’s close enough”.

When I had TVRs and used to do their car club track days, there was a chap called Ian Massey Cross who had a lovel TVR Grantura. It was period correct, right down to having no seatbelts, whatsoever. He used to have to put a tool box in the passenger footwell for pax riders to brace against, otherwise they'd disappear under the dash during braking.

Ha! Same happened to me when I passengered in a mate's Sierra Cossie that had chairs in it. Spent more time looking at the sky than the track!

I think the alcantara inserts in my GT4 seats are also better at keeping me in place than a similar seat made of shiny leather.

This is particularly lovely and no question marks over the quality coming from JZM but i wonder where the price for these is really heading for a car that was 81k list

Yes, Nomex buckets similar!

For me, quite simply; right car, right price. Lovely.

A comfort spec car might be under £100k, but not a nice CS, all IMHO of course.
