anyone got a car under warranty with ignitions in range 4. did the car have a compression and or leakdown test done?

im looking at one that has at around 400h had some ignitions in all ranges up to 4 at exactly the same time so i expect a missed downshift. car now has over 1400h and has been fine and routinely serviced in the network and has fewer than 40k miles

it ticks all boxes other than over revs and if in 1 or 2 i would be less concerned but i believe its a matter of policy that it would need to have a compression test done if ignitions in 4?

car seems okay in all other respects although not driven as yet

We need someone who actually knows to come along and answer this but... I think that, as long as they're more than 50-100 hours back, it is assumed that anything that was going to go "pop" or "bang" would have done so already.

All correct, but if you want an opc warranty you will need them to do above extra testing beyond the 111 point check

are you buying as a keeper ? if not selling a car with RR in 4 will be a pitter.

on a GT3 rr4 is over 9600rpm !

unlike a Cayman or Boxster etc where 1 and 2 are ok ie just hitting the limiter, even 1 and 2 on a GT3 is an over rev, range 1 is >9k rpm.

but yes as it's a long time ago, that makes life easier.

to quote 911v
"industry experts would suggest a 50 operating hour window of danger after the point of an over rev where chains or associated inter-gear can fail or develop problems leading to costly engine work / engine rebuilds."

I would not bother just because of the same reasons you are asking here, it reduces the ease to sell it.

Agree with 911r, it could be a difficult sell in the future. Any educated buyer will ask the same question you are.

You must have doubts as you are asking the question.

If it’s a cheap car and reflected in the price it’s not such an issue in the future.

I assume it doesn’t have a OPC warranty?
