What are peoples opinions on the bypass. Any issues - looking at Sharweks or BRE if anyone has any experience with either. Take it I'd just have to remove it prior to it going for inspection when extending the warranty ?

We have both the Sharkwerks (very popular choice) and UK made Milltek in stock. Have fitted and supplied many with great feedback on both options.
Have a look at ABP Motorsport on facebook for more images etc or search on here as been talked about many times.

Most of all - DO IT! It allows the glorious GT3 soundtrack across a much more licence friendly RPM range as opposed to just the top end.

Had the the Sharkwerks by pass supplied and fitted by ABP on my GT3 Gen 2 for 6,700 glorious miles. It really makes the car sound spectacular. I would highly rate the product and ABP. Ring and ask for Chris who is decent and helpful chap.

I would be very carefull fiddling the exhaust as you a straddling the noise limit on most tracks already ( and in psi sport mode it is above the noise limit already ).

JCR make a DB reducer also which you can put on for the strict track days.

Did I read on here recently that there is a good chance of snapping the studs on the centre box when removing thus rendering the box us?

Could be costly!

Agree that from the vids seen so far including mrjww it doesn’t look easy to swap it.

That is not the factory way of replacing the muffler?

Damn ,was just there yesterday. Didn't think to ask beforehand. Could have killed 2 birds at the same time.

Take it aome sort of exhaust mod is quiet popular amongst gt3 owners then ?

Cheers guys. Do all the bypasses sound pretty much the same given they all look similar ?

I managed to snap two of the six bolts when i removed the OEM center box to put on my JCR..Are you sure its that simple..?

Its not that simple. The bolt heads are sandwiched between two sheets of metal as part of the back box construction. Even 1 of the 3 snapping on either side will render the seal between the cat pipe and teh box somewhat ineffective.

I know from experience. I put the SW bypass on my 991 GT3 (sounds lovely). When it came time to revert to the factory box for the extended warranty inspection I found one stud had snapped in the removal and on trying to re-fit the unit and bodge it for the warranty inspection another stud on the other side snapped from heat fatigue when torqued down! Total cost to replace was over 1500 GBP! Expensive lesson. When I went through the dealers back room looking for a suitable used replacement I found 3-4 more 991 GT3 back boxes other clients had replaced with bypass pipes over the years and all of them except one had snapped studs...

Ive bought a 991.2 GT3 now. Id love to buy another SW and fit. Bit gun shy tho.

Fitted the Sharkwerks By-Pass to my R and the JCR Ti to my RS. Both great and easy to fit. The Sharkwerks has a deeper, fuller note compared to the JCR which has a more racy note.

Either way.... do it.

Taffy66/911 R I’d be interested to know if you think the video in this Instagram post by JCR is representative of what your exhausts now sound like/the improvement over OEM. Obviously they are comparing a GT3 and an RS...
