Yes the gt2 with straight through pipes is loud, but these are the normally aspirated 3.8rsr which are even loudersmile, they look similar to gt2 but built on a narrow cup body shell with slightly narrower arch extensions and rarer than the gt2 racers.

Without turbos - which muffle the noise - I can only imagine how loud!

ETA, were the 993 GT2 race cars running as much as 600hp?

The gt2 cars that were in the gt1 class could run upto 650bhp.
A good friend i raced against in the porsche open was running 750bhp,he tore the rear large banna wing off the rear lid at the brakeing point at the end of kemmel spa under full load,he was disapointed as he only got 199.7mph and not 200!,but managed to keep the car outof the barrier!

I thought so my old 996 turbo was pretty nearly stock and 500hp. I can quite see how a racer got over 600.

I'd had my TVR set up by (2x Tuscan Challenge Champion) Steve Guglielmi and he was at Spa with a group of us, doing some instruction. He reckoned he'd drive/raced the car in question and I did think I'd heard him say 650hp.

Insanely fast machines.

So annoyed I didn't think of coming up earlier. I have to drive to Peterborough anyway to pick up a car tomorrow :-/
- could have gone up a day earlier and broken the journey there....plus we could have explored the new tarmac wink

So from the other guys there today, what is the new tarmac like? ...and is it record lapping conditions? wink
New tarmac is billard table smooth. Ready for personal bests.
Was gutted not to be driving. But car is ready now… going to test drive and hopefully collect tomorrow before Donington on Thursday.
The track had amazing levels of grip through Maggots/Becketts. Especially bearing in mind that the Classic was run over the three previous days. Incredibly smooth too, hats off to the resurfacing crews.

Yes , coming onto the Hanger it felt that exit speed was so good that the RS felt it had no power to accelerate until you realised you were behind a 700 bhp car and they were not really pulling away .
Also kerbs were very ridable .... except for the corner onto the new start/finish line where the kerb on left before the final corner is now a problem if you ride it .

Yes Yellow , only kidding as the price of Gas is high ......

We are hoping to get about 600 BHP maybe more from the White 993GT2R we have nearing a full rebuild soon , as very wide track final Evo Version so should be fun . Especially mid corner when the Turbos spool up .

Yep. Bin there, done that on track with the old 996 turbo. yikes

Hats off to anyone who can tame a big turbo engine sufficiently to hit the limit, let alone drift.

Well done for keeping it going Cunno.

Can’t make that one I’m afraid day after I get back from an alps driving trip.

Cheers
