ASAP really the issue is I will struggle to go back to my local Porsche centre as I went down the Panemera route with a test drive but didn’t proceed so they won’t be to thrilled to let me drive a 911, so I’ll need to find one elsewhere to drive, in terms of budget I was thinking of using my car as a part ex on the deposit but I could always put extra cash down for the right car if it meant the pcp payments were more l affordable so could go to £65k maybe even £70k with the hope of negotiating them down closer to a £65k figure
Be prepared to be bent over with no lube on the price of your BMW by Porsche!

The Porsche finance ironically works out that a new car has a lower interest rate and a high final value, so a £100k car is pretty much the same monthly repayment as a used £65k car.

It’s swings and roundabouts. Depending on if you are looking at monthly amount for a 3yr term, or grand total spend.

For me, the monthly was the key one relative to my work car allowance.

Depends on what you’re looking at financially, but on a car £65 to £100k bracket of used vs new it’s not a mile apart... you’re looking at about £1.1k per month mark in lieu of £650 a month mark for a 6 series. The difference is that the 911 will have about £10k+ positive equity at end of term and the 6 series will have feck all.

I’ll ask the dealer, when I go in. It makes sense what you say and I think the new shape is great, I would kill for one, did this include any options?

I did ring the dealership earlier and they said there was no manufacturer support or contribution so I’m thinking if my old car is worth £17k part ex I’d put down £8k or £10k cash on top to try and keep the repayments down.
What’s the wait time on new cars and Is the 10% fee on top still be charged because of brexit?

Just ask the supplying dealer man...

If you are going to go down the used route, make sure it is something with low mileage, as if you are genuinely going to stick 15k a year on it, this could impact resale, however if you are looking to keep it a while, not an issue.. I generally like to spread mileage across my cars..

Not sure if others agree, however I have always found non Porsche GB owned dealers being a little more flexible on negotiation etc.. however I live close to Hatfield and have purchased their a number of times, even though their service is questionable..but found other dealers more flexible..

Good luck and do your research!

Personally .. I would be very wary of stretching your finances just to get in a 992. You want a car you can enjoy, not a millstone around your neck. Constantly worrying about every mile you put on the car, parking it in public car parks, etc., because it's costing you an absolute fortune is not a good start to car ownership. A 911 you can easily afford will give you far more enjoyment IMO, and you don't need to spend 100k to get a good one.

Yes definitely want something like this, I think I need to go OPC to get the 2 year warranty,
What would you suggest is the max mileage to consider on a used 911?

Funnily enough I saw this car at Hatfield looking last night, I’m 4 hours away so can’t view it but it looks nice with a good spec,

Thanks, it’s within budget and I would put a larger sum down so repayments fit well within my car allowance.
I hadn’t considered the risks of public parking
How much of a problem is this in terms of theft and people will fully causing damage?

I don't think Porsche's are particularly high risk for theft or wilful damage. Any car you park in a public car park will have some idiot open their door into it at some point though in my experience!

Great looking car with nice bits, however I would be looking for something with super low miles.. If you do 15k a year, in two years the car will have nearly done 50k miles.. Clearly a 911 can do it all day long, but whether you want to is another thing..

6,000 p.a. is hardly high mileage though, and I'd consider it on the low side.
Chalk and cheese and all that, but my 03/2016 Boxster is at 37,000 miles. smile

Porsche is realistic pricing rather than the bmw made up prices and massive depreciation, so no there is not any pretend manufacturer or dealer contribution nonsense.

i've parked my 911 in loads of random locations and never a problem. i put a numberplate on that is 3yrs older than the car to disguise it to the natural selection of society... I never put a new plate on a new car, seems to work wink

Thanks for all the replies so far, I've learned so much which has been really helpful, I've been looking at 911's for the last few days and have come across these 2.

I really like this one, more so any I think so far as it's a nice spec and miles I guess are ok.
I really like the colour too, it's different without being to stand outish and it's an S but it is pricey for the year from what I've seen, so not sure if I could get them down towards £70k

https://finder.porsche.com/gb/en_GB/911-Carrera-S-...

But then I compare that with this one and which is the 911 T - but it's only 1 year old with really low miles, I know the spec isn't as good and it's a T not an S but for that age and price it looks too good to pass up?

Test drive booked for Thursday, can’t wait
Although neither of these dealers are anywhere close to me sadly

That means a nice long enjoyable drive home in your new car if you do buy one!
