Hello

I have a Renault Movano 2.5 LWB.
160,000 on clock
Good Service Record

Recently i heard a rattle in my engine and suspected it was the Cat on the way out. When i was driving along at about 60 mph the lights came up on my van with a failed emissions and check injector fault. They done some tests on van and found it 98% the turbo. Since my turbo has been taken out the garage (my mate) has found a metal object (shown in photo) lodged inside turbo which caused the damage.

The EGR flap has been checked and that's still intact.

Any suggestions of where this broken object came from?

In the inlet manifold, BMW's and some petrol Mondeo's were renowned for injesting them!

Yes it kind of matters which end of the turbo it was found. It isn't a swirl flap, is it actually metal? It looks like plastic.
I don't have a lot of confidence in your mate if he can't find where that came from.

A two penny piece has to have fallen out of the pocket of a fitter on the production line!
But as it's a Renault it should be a Euro cent.

Looks like half of the butterfly out of the anti shudder valve to me, but any mechanic would have been able to diagnose that so maybe it isn't.
