Fair play, thats brave, not even an ‘end space’ by the look of it. Bet if my shed was parked there they wouldnt!
What's brave about taking your car to a shop?

I think if you turn up at Lidl in a car painted in Lizard green or lava orange avec scaffolding and an ironing board stuck on the back then it’s not unreasonable to expect a few negative comments.
Why?

Indeed, very likely not incongruous at all and probably totally consistent with other parked vehicles nearby.

I get cheers from children as I drive past.

Men want to be me and women want to be with me.

yes It's quite addictive while it lasts, but it's dangerous ground. What follows if there's no Lidl nearby? Outside Greggs with hazards on?

lol, yes that's what a lizard green F1 Spoliered car full of scaffolding does for you. It's not all about lap times.

I've just realised that this a Porsche thread.

I was talking more generally. It's not about the car.

I got a fair bit of jealousy and didn't feel particularly comfortable in my old Guards red GT4. I think plenty thought a young looking brown guy with a beard shouldn't have such a flash car...

No issues with my Caterham and helmet...smile

I avoid parking my wife's car near other cars unless it really cant be helped (lowly fiat 500X) to avoid the inevitable supermarket car park door dings, let alone my 992, so fair play to the owner. I park my shed anywhere, I dont give a st, thats why I bought it.

My 992 (yellow) has been to our local Lidl, B&M, Tescos and others on a number of occasions, no abuse, just people doing the double take and usually a smile. I just park at the @rsehole end of the car park, away from everyone else to avoid dents.

I used to do that until my 991.1 GT3 was damaged by a random discarded supermarket trolley blown by the wind full length of the car park into the cars door.

Sadly that is, in a nutshell, the issue; you only need one small minded, malcontent tt to do something nasty.

Then there are the hordes of plain dumb people who'll park so close you cannot even get back into your car or, worse yet, use your car as an aid for their brakes/steering out of pure incompetence. And they always just drive off.

Exactly. The misconception is that cars like these get extra unpleasant attention that results in vandalism is caused by pride. The same pride that often means owners park in more visible locations by supermarket front doors/or at the far end of the carpark out on their own... . The fact is most people couldn't give a monkey's and the most likely cause of damage to your P 'n' J is the harassed housewife or myopic older gent who have no idea/couldn't care less about your viridian blue/green GT 4.17 cock extension (their perspective, not mine!).

Depends on the car I think. Personally I won't be going for another bright coloured GT car as I found it just draws unwanted attention.

I just didn't need the hassle and to be honest it did take the shine off the ownership experience.

As I said, no issues with my silver aero'd Caterham with Martini stripes or my dark red Elise. I think people just saw the GT4, saw money, saw an undeserving brown guy and made their thoughts known.

Will be a dark blue, black or grey GT car next time..

I can relate to this..Coming from a lovely Guards red GT4 and a stunning Yellow 991.2GT3 i got a lot of unwanted attention, mainly from boy racers trying to race me..When i was looking for a 458 last year i waited until i got my preferred Grigio Silverstone and all the attention i've had is positive..
Even when i was choosing a colour for my GT3 RS WP i chose a Black one to tone down the Carbon roof, bonnet and wing..It seems to have worked as it doesn't attract all the bad vibes as i got from the GT4 and GT3..It doesn't help that i don't live in a particularly affluent part of the UK where petty jealously is rampant.
Personally i will never buy a bright showy colour on any Ferrari or Porsche again.

But what can you do, all about risk mitigation.....

On thread, genuinely, bright yellow 992, nothing but thumbs up in the western ‘shires, try not to be intrusive, acknowledge its a flash motor, and be polite, let people out in traffic, treat people as you’d like to be treated yourself.

Taking my mates lad (9yo) and his school mate for a 5min blast tomorrow, they love yellow lambos apparently, should be a treat. Yeah, dgswk, ndswk’s dad, cool bloke. Whatever. Lads, work hard, be decent people, be patient, don’t p1ss on people, aspire to be the best at what you do, and.... you can have one.
