Stuck a dashcam in my GT3, but had a question about powering it.

Plugged it in, all working well, but won't seem to power off when you get out the car and lock it?

Anyone know how long the power outlet in the glovebox says on for? Seems to be a while!? Any way of it draining the battery?

Thanks all.

From the reading I've done into the 12v sockets for charging batteries this my take on it:

The 12v socket in the glove box & under armrest turn off after 15-30 minutes after ignition key is taken out. Therefore can't drain or charge through these sockets

The 12v socket which forms part of the smoker package, remains live, therefore you can charge with the 12v Ctek charger through this and also therefore, I'd assume leave items to be powered from this socket.

I'd assume your camera must power down then have motion sensors to liven it up and also have a separate battery supply? The user manual on the camera must say what it's electrical draw is and potential for draining a cars battery etc?

Yup. 12v under glove box is live for up to 30 mins (or shorter depending on battery charge level).

I'd be careful about how long various 12v sockets stay alive. Albeit on a 981 Cayman S, I forgot to switch off a data logger connected to the footwell 12v socket and it ran the battery down completely.

...whereas on my 2014 Cayman 981 the footwell socket turns off after 30 minutes.
Best check is to physically time them by connecting something with a visible (from outside) LED. Check every 5-10 minutes.

Seems to turn off the glove box power after about 15 mins on my 991.1 GT3.
