Hi guys,
I've got a smallish crack in my manifold, not sure how it happened but was picked up on at a recent service and looks like it was as a result of impact/grounding on something on the road. The crack is at the lowest point of the manifold so not far from the ground.

I'm on the verge of ordering an aftermarket set of HJS 200cell cat headers to replace them but it's working out to around £2k including labour costs so just considering all options before pulling the trigger.

Has anyone had any success with welding cracks on the manifold? Could it possibly be done in-situ or would it always be a manifold off job? I've heard some have failure of the weld due to heat cycle stresses.

Or should I just stump up and go aftermarket and enjoy a bit more power and long lasting solution?

A little more noise wouldn't go amiss but don't want anything too lary. Have PSE already. Would like to be able to keep things muted whilst PSE valves are shut.

Just looking for some opinions/experiences either way really.

Cheers
Tim

Not quite the same, but we regularly weld cracks in exhausts on our race cars. If it can be easily accessed for cleaning and welding, it can probably be done in situ.
