991.2 GT3 sell now or keep dilemma
Discussion
It kind of makes sense that dealers are getting lighter on stock with nothing being replenished as yet. I drove past one of those big Imperial dealerships the other day that usually is rammed with cars outside and it was half empty. People have been buying still the last few months clearly.

Have a recurring itch for a Speciale which leads to extensive scouting of classifieds. Then I start imagining myself in that car and then I conclude that it is just not for me - until the itch returns...
I get that itch with V12 Ferrari’s....rotate through F12, 812, Lusso, FF etc. Clearly last two are justified as family car etc Speciale is the only V8 Ferrari I’ve every really wanted. Dr S said:

Excellent- I look forward to photos of your Speciale!
Ah, about that - I’ve driven one now - thoughts based on a limited test drive - so huge caveat to conclusions. Plus points - engine is absolutely fantastic , I liked the noise very much (I know you didn’t) It’s a really pretty car , not at all intimidating at sensible speeds,. Driving position excellent and it felt really small and easy to place.
Only issue is the steering feel - it felt vague and light to me - now this may change when pushing on / once one gets more used to it (but felt very different to the Porsche GT cars I’ve had - IMHO nowhere near as nice)
It’s on a different level from a theatre perspective to my recently departed manual 991.2 GT3 CS - in truth, I think the GT3 felt like a better drivers car (the manual / steering feel had a lot to do with this for me)
However as I say - I would really want to spend some proper time on some interesting roads to really understand it properly, so my impression may be completely flawed.
Glad I had a go in one though.
I got out and was really frustrated as I really wanted to love it as it’s got a real sense of theatre and it’s very sexy, but all it did was make me hanker for another manual GT3. I can see why someone on here suggested that they were different enough to have both (in an ideal non constrained world)
Might risk it though, if CGT doesn’t materialise.
I haven’t driven a 488 or a F8 Tributo - wonder how they compare - maybe even more Grand Tourer ?

you ended up selling the GT3 and the 718 Spyder , wow.
Yep - I can believe it - all happened very quickly, no modern cars left I am now using this as my daily ;I guess it’s the equivalent of selling your house and moving into rented so you can move quickly if needed.
Have to say though I am looking for another 991.2 manual GT3 - shouldn’t have sold it , that was a mistake, should have sold the Spyder (which I now have) Nothing wrong with the Spyder BTW; I stick by everything that I said about it, but if I could only keep one, it should have been the GT3

Isaldiri did his best "Arthur Daley" on him yesterday.
Hi Digga, great to catch up again on Sunday - such a nice bunch of folks don’t you think - don’t know any of them very well but they are always so nice and welcoming and helpful at these days - I really should try and get to more of them. Massive thanks to Isaldiri for letting me see / sit in and passenger lap in his CGT - that man can really pedal; I ended up squealing like a little baby - what an utterly amazing car.
What a great day to whizz around Silverstone in a CGT - tick that off the bucket list

Yes great day .... fun group and old friends , highlight a quick run in the F40 , that is some old school turbo boost , really impressed with such an old car good to see all there , great day , and fun until middle pedal went soft with warning light curtailing fun Massive thanks to Isaldiri for letting me see / sit in and passenger lap in his CGT - that man can really pedal; I ended up squealing like a little baby - what an utterly amazing car.

Hope the brake issue is nothing too serious Hunter 66?

true atm you need cash on the hip, I wanted a car but all my money is tied up in cars which I need to sell 1st.I guess it’s the equivalent of selling your house and moving into rented so you can move quickly if needed.

Car was for sale a day then gone.
I wish I could click my fingers and sell 2 and buy one, but it's not that easy unless you flush £15k down the pan to do it quick.
have you sold the 964 also ?
you really need to drive my 987.2 Spyder, although you will want one if you do :-)

Haha no Matt had a look and the pads had worn right down on the lower side of the Front discs , and with new OPC fluid , think it just got a bit hot and the pedal needed a pump or two ........ so new set of Discs and Pads , 10 k miles and 10 track days , seems reasonable
No, you're doing well at that rate of consumption! Glad nothing serious anyway.hunter 66 said:

Yes the F40 was very special indeed - even when stationaryisaldiri said:
RSVP - quite glad the car didn't turn out to be a disappointment in the flesh! You know what people say about never meeting your heroes and all.. Had a bit of pressure with you as a pax especially given my very rusty driving too.
Not at all - car was epic and driving standard very high - thanks again, really nice of you to do this Porsche911R said:

964 RS survived the cull and I hope the financial gods will smile favourably on me so it gets to stay with me - it was incredibly hard to find and is such a special car.
Re gen1 Spyder - I bet you are right & would like to see what all the fuss is about one day - I imagine a good mix of power (not too much) , size (not too big) and weight (not too flabby) makes for a great road car.

Not the same but I had a new Aston Vantage for 72 hours. The sound was incredible, the occasion was good, but when I got back into my GTS which I had left at the dealers I had an immediate smile on my face. The steering, the balance, the whole package. The 911is an amazing car.
AM’s very pretty - but look to be big heavy GT’s to me - maybe when I’m 70 Gassing Station | 911/Carrera GT | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
