How long have you had yours?

There were no PS4S in 18 inch or smaller until they recently launched 2 sizes in 18 inch. But those sizes wont help you so you'll need a different option.

The PS4 is a good tyre but it's not a great tyre. Goodyear eagles are well liked and a solid safe bet.

Tidy (apart from the bumper). Think I've just fitted the same headunit.

Just up the road in NG2 if anybody fancies a mini meet in Notts/Leic.

The bumper is going to be sorted at the peeling paint on rear spoiler, i rang Chris as was working in the area but has a 3 week wait, as for tyres i was hoping to get four matching ones but nowhere seems to list the same tyre in the right sizes for front and rear

http://doorsteptyres.co.uk/ used him off and on since he used to be with another more well known mobile fitting firm. Fitted MIchelin fronts on loose wheels after I had them refurbed, not sure how far into Leic he goes tho. N3's I think without going out to check.

I'm not sure what tyres you have on now but the correct size would be 205 50 front and 255 40 rear. I assumed when you asked about tyres you would have 18 inch like everybody else. I had 18 on mine and switched to 17 - pic below. I now have 2 sets of these wheels and tyres. The set on my car are PS3 N3 but I also have a set of PS2 Nx - not sure their N rating. If you dont know about N rating dont worry it's just a Porsche thing.

I've been toying with the idea of trying some different sizes but the factory spec drives fine. Some people fit a 225 45 front which can work ok but technically the rim is a bit thin for that size. I don't feel like I need more tyre but less which is an unpopular view I know. The 205 fronts give more than enough grip for my car and driving ability so I'm toying with thinner rears.

it has some old continentals on the front in 205/50/17 which are showing crack in the side walls due to age and a mismatched set of 255/40/17 on the rear i forget the brand, handling wise its alot better now ive blown the tyres up as the day i picked it up they were between 15 and 20 PSI in each!!! so my plan is to change all 4

Do the service yiurself, the saving will buy the tyres.
Speaking of tyres, decide what you want and find the best price online. If you don’t trust them to go near your Porsche, take the wheels off and put them in the other car then ask for tyres to Be fitted to your loose wheels.

My friend has a garage and will fit the tyres to the wheels if i buy them online, i was just after suggestions as to which to go for! as for the service i want to take it to a specialist so i can get the car checked over and see if there are any suprises waiting for me!

Yes the fronts dont do much.

Factory pressure is 36 F and 36 R.

I found one of my fronts on 12 one day and it still drove ok - slow leak. I've experimented with different pressures - generally lower than factory spec. I've found its best to keep them the same front to back. Right now I'm using 32.

Thorntons in Syston are very good for tyres, I've used Graham and Cliff for years and to be honest wouldn't go anywhere else.

Wheel and tires same as for 993 and I am currently running Michelin on 17s and previously had Continentals before. I have come to accept that I am not going to find the latest tech tires in those sizes so enjoy driving to what I have fitted instead.

Here is the Porsche recommended list for 996

https://files.porsche.com/filestore/download/uk/no...

I happened by chance drop into GCR yesterday to have a catch up with Chris and he says crazy busy with servicing these days and usually 4 to 5 week wait time to get a car.

have booked in with chris at GCR for 20th march for major service and brake fluid change, as service history is a bit patchy! he is also going to get me a quote for tyres, so is local place, then cars booked in for front bumper and rear spoiler to be painted the week after when im in portugal! so all in should have a tidy looking, serviced 996 on new tyres for just under £11k

Well I hope the service or check over doesn't throw up too many problem areas. I spent almost 3 grand on mine just changing various pipes, tubes and cables soon after I got it.

... is that £11k plus the price of the car?

I’ve currently got Continentals on my 2001 3.4 996 C2 and will be changing them next year. I was going down the PS4 route but I’ve been hearing good things about Yoko Advans V 105s.
Anyone got any experience of them? I gather they’re now approved by OPC.

There is a bot of confusion about the PS4 and the PS4S. Lots of people say the PS4S is a great tyre but that doesn't mean the PS4 is also. They're different tyres. PS4S isnt really available in sizes 18 and smaller although they have now launched 2 sizes in 18 inch only. So there are potentially better tyres around in these 18 and smaller sizes.
