Search brought up a couple of historic posts but nothing new ......

Just getting opinions or knowledge of those guys that track their GT3`s or 4`s with the Club sport package ......

What is the upto date wisdom on using a small clip to turn off the bongs & warning light when on track utilising the harnesses ???

I have been using the clip to kill the warning lights etc but it occurred to me that if the worst were to happen , the car may think the seat belts are active and fire off all the airbags ???

Does the audible warning stop after a while without the clip fitted ? I`m pretty sure the warning light does not extinguish which is a pain but I`m am not sure I want it turned off permanently which is an option in PIWIS. I understand that plugging the seatbelt in round the back of the seat is a huge NO NO due to the pre tensioners etc etc.

So what is the collective opinion ??

I can’t answer your question, but am interested to see what replies there are.
This is not something I had considered, what is the concern with airbags going off in the event of a serious crash?
If the harness holds the driver secure in the seat then how will the airbags make anything worse compared to the driver being less secure in the seat using a standard seatbelt?

I`m thinking more of the increased cost because all the airbags have fired ( wrecking the interior ) after a small bump which a bodyshop can sort, not a full monty cars is a write off job thumbup

It will require something fairly major to fire airbags. And in that event… you’ll ultimately be glad they did.

As Mad Scientist says, the warning bong doesn’t last very long. But the time you’ve done 1/4 lap you won’t hear it anymore.

But I would say…for best safety if you use a harness… you must use a HANS/FHR device.
Else just stick to a seatbelt.
