If it were me, i would buy an used approved car now as come Brexit 10% will be an awful lot of additional money to stump up!! so a used car taken now isn't a bad shout even if it is slight overs

I wonder if OPC prices of nearly used stock is currently artificially high in case of a no deal brexit and hence the added 10% levy on new car prices in 2021...a bit of a gamble at the moment I guess.

You try and get an allocation for a 992 TurboS! Hens teeth and most are being told possible 18 months lead time! So supply and demand I suppose. Get one bought you will be shocked at the sheer turn of pace.. be prepared for whiplash that what I got after the first major outing in mine!

The one that sold on Collecting g Cars didn’t seem to sell for anything like £20k over list.

I'm pretty sure if someone calls and offers list they'd take an offer or am I out of touch?

I assume RHD, but if you can live with LHD there are plenty below list in Germany

As far as i am aware, my OPC had/has at least 20 orders for car, with only 4 cars delivered this year. Next year even less they told me, so not sure why they would accept List! if it were me, like i said, i would bite the bullet and pay a sensible overs as all the current cars are at over, with Brexit round the corner 10% extra...

But the list price in Germany is quite a bit higher than the UK. Turbo S coupe is equivalent to £192k+

I'm speaking to several dealers, and no one coming close to 18mths lead time.

Am seriously considering going pre-owned instead as I think there's a good chance they'll drop over the winter.

I have posted before with the same frustrations and did the same thing as you with regard to phoning around the dealers with no such luck!

Now I did put a deposit down with my dealer about 5 months ago and they still cannot give me any indication when they could get me a car despite me buying a couple of Macan’s and a GT3 (which I will trade in) over the past 3 years. This is becoming a right pain as I cannot plan so I might just throw the head up and buy something else Italian next year!

I also refuse to pay overs on the used market, did that with the GT3 and won’t be doing it again.

Good luck with your search.

Agree with you there is just no point paying over the market for a Turbo S, as good as they may be. Had a 991TS and want the 992, but not playing that game.

Yep dangerous game paying overs for a TTS in the UK even though they will no doubt be a great package.

Be interesting seeing whether Porsche will impose the 10% tarriff if hard Brexit but that would make it in reality too expensive.

That is true, but they depreciate relatively normally - so it is not like you lose the difference between the UK and German price immediately

This. When they do indeed impose the 10% and, also, a possible price rise, saying dont pay over will be kicking yourself! if you can get a used car with little milage for a decent overs then buy and enjoy! TTS never really deprecate like rest of range.

What i will say again is DO NOT compare this TTS to 991 TTS they are a complete, totally different Beast!

Indeed.

Viewing the 992 TS as effectively a cut price GT2 RS may be the best man maths.biggrin:

I don't think I'd agree with that. A '17 TTS coupe with a few options costing ~£150k new and reasonable miles would command no more than £95k trade in now, so more than £50k depreciation. In terms of percentage, it may be marginally better than a standard Carrera (though I don't think it is), but in absolute numbers it suffers more depreciation. One good thing about the TTS depreciation compared to say the R8 is that it is gradual over time so you can "get out" at any point without losing a fortune, whereas the R8 seem to the depreciate about £20k+ as soon as you register it.

It will be interesting to see how the 992 TTS values hold up when the GT3 arrives. Arguably different target customers but there are a few GT3 diehards who are now firmly in the TTS camp.

Each generation of TTS holds it’s value extraordinarily well in the first two or three years of production as normally OPC’s only get one a quarter. I think Porsche are pretty clever....there are a lot of people that buy them because they know they can run one cheaply if they get an early car...so you get this self fulfilling prophecy with lots of people wanting one because they know if they get one it’ll be cheap to own. But when that game is over the depreciation normalises. Ultimately there aren’t that many people that want to own a £170k 911 as a daily driver.

Thanks for all the replies everyone,

I bought a car , and just spent 6 hour driving it home.

One month old , 700 on the mile on the clock, opc dealer was asking 12k Over list , which was Uber cheeky given they’d originally sold the car and bought it back under list, we settled on 3k over list and the deal was done.

Once my back has recovered It ll sink what a mega car it is! For now my arse is numb and my sense of humour has somewhat waned!

: )
