Depreciation and all of that stuff may well occur and in the waning days of the internal combustion engine there will be increasing quantities of cars coming onto the market which will be regarded as symbols of the past rather than way to the future. Thus they will depreciate. I assume that the cars I have will depreciate lots.
Interesting subject but tend to take the view nobody really knows which way the market will go other than ICE will be around for a considerable number of years yet and way past 2030 petrol and diesel new car sale cut off thankfully as many manufacturers and more specifically e.g. Porsche know full well by committed development throwing billions ££ into their Chilean alternative fuel plants.

No one would have ever forecasted the meteoric rise in demand for classics and latterly especially retro 1970s 1980s 1990s cars many of which were prematurely scrapped in the past but look where we are now in the UK with folks craving retro on many levels to reclaim part of their lost childhood not least cars and many humdrum ones at that but the high prices ££ obtained speak for themselves in terms of demand.

Nostalgia is not necessarily a thing of the past biggrin: in this sense and whilst EVs will obviously have some benefits the inevitable sheer dilution of the EV driving experience for enthusiasts compared to focused ICE cars will ensure demand for ICE cars could actually increase especially as ultimately post 2030 new petrol and diesel registrations will obviously have to fall.

Worth noting as an analogy and whilst another subject but entirely relevant here is that many forcast diesel car prices to tank ££ following the defeat device scandals affecting many manufacturers over the past few years but this actually resulted in used diesel prices increasing quite strongly due to falling sales of new cars.

Interesting times ahead for sure.

Me too.

Despite the video, I think there is still a long queue.

Regards 2030, I reckon we will start to see the effects from around 2025 with public sentiment turning negative, petrol price hikes etc. Ironically it will be the fact that the less fortunate will still have to use ICE cars that will slow this down.

Enjoy these cars now. Time is running out.
