So having been saddled with the dubious notoriety of somehow securing this automotive equivalent of Lizzo's backside, you now have the option of highlighting the fact still further, with the horological equivalent of the Alan Partridge tie and blazer badge combination pack.

Can't imagine for 1 gauche chronographic second, cutting about in Porsche branded watch.
Superb!

Phoned my OPC Sales guy today regarding another car and naturally the conversation led to 992GT3 numbers and allocations. They are only getting two of the 2021 model year GT3s in the first batch and of those two they already have 60 wanting one. Its a much worse bunfight than i'd imagined. The second batch coming later in the year will be labelled 2022 model year and will be subjected to a price rise but not sure how much.
In my excitement i clean forgot to ask him about the watch.rolleyes
The best bit Taffy is not being in the Bun Fight we can just unleash the RS's in the Spring without the wait biggrin

I specced one on the configurator which I then sent to my OPC. I didn't expect a response though I understand they are obliged by Porsche to do so. I was told by the salesman that there was very little chance of securing one. I think that he was a little surprised when I said that I wasn't that bothered. I rang the Sales Manager after 48 hours who explained that they expected 8 this year. We briefly discussed my car with both of us coming to the same conclusion that however good the new GT3 will be it will not be as special long term as a GT3RS WP. To be honest I'm really quite relieved as we really are more than delighted with ours.

I'm a good few rungs down the ladder, but understand the sentiment exactly - there's actually a very comforting feeling about having something you definitely want to keep. I think both of the last two RS's are hugely impressive cars in their own right.

The price increase is just because they think that they can.
They are really clever with pricing of most of the low production cars. They keep the headline price relatively low knowing that the salesman will talk the customer into the correct 'investment spec' and the tell them that if they don't actually driver the car but let the dealer re-sell it as a delivery mileage car just how much money they will make for doing sod all.
And how the dealer will the guarantee that they will then get a slot for the 992.2 GT3 or even and RS and how much money that will also make them.
If you are not going to drive it like you stole it, walk away and let someone who will drive it have the slot.

I really hate Porsche dealers, they are arrogant scum bags who spend their days flogging over priced re-badged VW's to some very gullible people.

Absolutely this - had Porsches for 15 years, would never go back

But how about if the price increase which from what I understand is a relatively modest one is due to the upcoming 22 MY, just like lots of other makers do, also to include also few other available options. From what I can see we here in the UK have the lowest GT prices when viewed with the rest of the EU.

This is correct and as you say a modest 2-3% annual inflation led increase. Still very good value compared to other cars and cheaper than pretty much any other country.

Within the last year, any OEM will undoubtedly had increases, some significant, on:

  • steel prices
  • component prices from Far East
  • delivery costs, both inbound and outbound
Probably also wages too.

Whole price increase thing seems a bit crap to me, they know they are doing price increases across the range in 3 months time so why not just announce the car at the price most lucky enough to buy will pay. From info on here an OPC will only sell a couple of cars at the release price. 2 or 3% say £3k onto the price from the start would stop any negative comments. Although I guess if you can afford £140k for a GT3 then another 3K is small change. At least your not paying 10% Brexit tax smile

All cars Porsche sells are subject to annual price increases at the same time. Irrespective of what the initial launch price is set at, it would still be subjected to the annual increase. Maybe they should have delayed the launch until after the annual price increase. Still an awesome sports car for the money and i can't wait to read the driving reviews.

This is coming from a massive GT3 RS lover and Onwer but... I wonder what our thoughts will be 3 months down the line when we see the GT3 in the flesh!

it will look v nice.
20 / 21'' rims
Front will look aggressive with its new bonnet
Optional carbon roof
Big butt, yes. But I think in the flesh many will like it.
Have to wait to see if interior fits the likes of a GT, sure it'll be fine though.

Only disappointment is that's its a touch slower on a straight than its former.

So different to the 991.2

Totally hear what you say. And I am repeating myself but... I am thinking there has to be something they pulled out of the bag to make this GT3 perhaps... more special than what the launch suggests! At least it is different from the 991 when... each new seemed to bring a mn obvious advantage to the predecessor and we would long to own them!
Anyway, it is good to be a kid again at each car launch and speculate and guess and try to make decisions! Well I am.

I think this is really interesting.

I made me make the decision to buy a secondhand 991.2CS ... it will be a road car so the the harnesses and fire extinguisher will stay in storage and the PDKS will be something to play with.

I wonder, when history analyses it's story, where the GT3 sweet spot will be.

The first is always the first, the future's electric.

Wonder how many won't spec the Carbon roof and regret it, will now be a must have option.
