I think I prefer the cheaper Singer cars from a few years ago, when they were priced at a mere £500K.

Have to agree wholeheartedly :

This isn't the above car's interior, but it's nicely trimmed and discrete

3.8RS at Hairpin is ex Dario Franchitti who sold it because "it's too good to use and I don't have a problem using my cars" or words to that effect. Priced as a museum piece not as a car. Although I did read about someone buying a delivery mileage F40 from Girardo & Co who uses the car...so there are some people with the money to buy these cars who have petrol in their veins.
I saw a 288GTO in the bottom end of Kensington High Street 2 weeks ago.

As I was looking at it, the owner arrived and asked if I like it.. I mentioned that I think I'd seen him a couple of months ago driving in the rain. He said that it probably was him, that he drives all his cars as that's what they were designed for!!

He had just popped out in it to buy his dinner when I met him. cool

Whilst I kickstarted this thread and have expressed my preference of the Singer, for those that understandably disagree, you may like this article

Interesting discussion. The whole idea about a Singer is that you can have it made exactly to your own taste. This makes it a truly personalised item (based on a Porsche of which 70k where made) What I don‘t get is why these cars would appreciate over time (over and above inflation) - as at the end of the day you can just order a new car at the then prevailing price point. Why would i pay a premium on somebody else’s specification, if I can spec one on my own. ? So for me it is like a tailored suit. Great for the one who has ordered it - and not worth more than the sum of its parts for anyone else.

Agree but I think it’s the multi year wait that has pushed values to where they are. Although they have a new factory coming on line and I think DLS is actually made in the UK….which I assume is why all the road testing was done here.

If I had the money I’d possibly buy a Singer. If I had the money I’d never buy a DLS….plenty of other cars I’d rather spend that money on.

Nice collection Jan has for sale,a few inaccuracies but great cars, again most radical ever made, not so sure.
Ruf will build what you want, not such a long wait list and better value with 700bhp to boot.

Thanks they look so good (as does the garage/showroom/living room)
All so cool, I’d be happy with an accurate replica of each of them

Maybe it's me but I struggle to see how you can use and enjoy some of those cars now....too noisy for a lot of track days, too valuable for a lot of track days, not great road cars unless you like a hardcore road experience and too mileage sensitive.

If I was going to spend huge money on something from Porsche's back catalogue I think it would be a 3.0 RS....one of the road cars. Nobody cares about the mileage...all about the history and provenance. Although with only 50 of them not an easy car to buy !!!

Or is you want something more hardcore an IROC 3.0 RSR is for sale next month smile

I think its you smile the two road cars are great drives on the road, the two race cars are easily muffled, not very mileage sensitive and no more expensive to repair than most other track day porsche gt cars, possibly cheaper to repair and choose the right track days to take such kit out.
Shame the gt2r has been over restored.

Probably is me smile I struggle with the idea of stripped out cars as road cars.

I stopped for a bacon roll at the top of the rest and be thankful in Argyll (I live nearby) about 12 years ago

I’m driving my ex-super production spec race car made road legal Integra Type R - full cage, fall out of it after undoing my six point harnesses … I was the only person there so parked right in front

Guy in the burger van says “nice Honda. My nephew races a Honda”

“Oh aye, what kind of Honda does he race?”

Points to wall of memorabilia - pics, gloves etc - he’s Dario’s uncle smile

Absolutely loved it!!

There are porsches that have sold for more a couple of years ago, great cars they are,be interesting to see where it gets to.
The 2.7rs is on the up back up,a couple of very good examples almost at 2018 prices sold recently.
