Where are all the 997.1 GT3s
Discussion
If a car was up for 85k and had been up for a little while how much would you guys usually offer/pay? I’ve never really been buying at this level before and I’m used to being cheeky.
Also how do I go about doing a proper pre purchase check? Am I expected to flatbed a car from one place to say rpm/jzm and eat the cost myself? How many dealers are happy with this sort of thing?
If there’s pccbs is it realistic for me to expect them to be removed and weighed?
I’m starting to get quite anxious about all of this as exciting as it is haha.

What dealer? Or private? Also how do I go about doing a proper pre purchase check? Am I expected to flatbed a car from one place to say rpm/jzm and eat the cost myself? How many dealers are happy with this sort of thing?

Most reputable dealers have a pre-purchase inspection done prior to buying it or offering it on SOR.
Private, another ballgame. Down to the seller. You can get some inspectors to go out but they charge a lot more (travel costs/time) and it’s more difficult (time consuming) without ramps. If I were selling a car privately, I’d be more than happy to take the car to a reputable dealer and have a pre purchase inspection done prior to sale but subject to a refundable deposit should the car throw up any serious issues that couldn’t be rectified as part of the deal (costs taken into account of as part of the sale price). But not all sellers are like me.
PCCB’s - can’t you just have them measured via thickness? Weighing them, can be done as part of your inspection, but will cost you more.
As for your bargaining power… always depends on how desperate someone is, market looks slow but cars are always selling and choice is still limited. Dealers don’t tend to do much of a deal nowadays because the profitability on these cars isn’t that high and they have to offer warranty etc etc
I was looking at the blue one at Ashgoods. I spoke to them briefly but Mike was out. Said they "can" do the overrev checks etc but seemed odd to me that they hadn't? Apparently common buyer behaviour is to take it to the local OPC for a 111pt check over. Going to finish sorting out the cash and then go view it if still there I think.

Very nice looking car. A dealer I feel I would trust FWIW. I have zero to do with them, but have enquired about cars previously.Gary Woodland said:

When I sold them my one they did a brief inspection which included an overrev check so I'm pretty sure they would have done one as it only takes a few mins. Ashgoods I seem to think are very honest about the cars they have in stock. They are probably up there with the top 3 porsche dealers in the UK - RPM/JZM/Ashgood.
I enquired awhile back about one with them and they were honest about paintwork etc.
The blue car looks nice, its the cheapest clubsport I've seen in awhile with a fantastic spec and colour. I am surprised it hasnt already gone.

its almost the same as mine and i can confirm the cobalt blue ones go faster
They look stunning. When I bought mine, JZM must have had the cobalt blue one 'waiting in the wings' but because it was literally identical mileage, spec and price, they didn't want two of them in the showroom. Which makes sense.
So when I went to collect mine and saw the blue car in its place, I really did have a moment and wonder if I'd bought the right car. In the end, I think I'd be equally happy either way, but the blue car did look superb.

I think i drove this very car at a local dealer late last year, seem to remember being told it was an Ashgoods car they had swapped in for a Cayman R. For me it rode very hard on the "upgraded" suspension and it also had an aftermarket exhaust, in the end not for me. It did look spectacular though.997’s are my favourite of the bunch. Here’s my 42k mile, daily used .1 RS. LHD with the 90L fuel tank. PCCB’s & PCM. Exactly how it should be

I didn't know that a red cage was available as a factory option. Looks like great value.I think this example was the subject of a classic Gordon Brittas-style YouTube video a while ago, has now appeared at OPC Tewkesbury for a rather interesting price.

Personally the low mileage and stickers put me off, let alone the bog standard spec, but there you go.

Agree, if this was a clubsport or even had CGT’s it’d be in someone’s collection. But why collect a car that isn’t quite the one to have..? And if you wanted to use it you’d be better off buying one with 30/40k on the clock. Doesn’t really have a buyer this car…https://www.pistonheads.com/buy/listing/14987157?u...

From the photos it does look in lovely condition, agree shame it’s not a clubsport.
