Very interesting video. We knew some of the facts, this puts it into better perspective:

How does that square with Porsche reporting record levels of car production last year and this year?https://www.instagram.com/reel/CheW1LpFIVI/
This is probably Porsche's most important year. The plan is for VAG group to spin off Porsche into an IPO while still having a controlling stake. This is nothing more than fattening the proverbial calf. Even if that means alienating one of their most important markets. That's what's driving their behaviour, purely IPO price.

A fairly depressing plan for the prospects of the cars as things to drive. But then by the time the full impact of that is seen in the product line, there very likely won't be any ICE Porsches anyway. So, it probably doesn't matter.Thomas Covenant said:

I agree completely… dressing up for IPO is driving production mix, allocation to the markets and the R&D pipeline.Investors want growth and profitability. 911 is a ‘halo’ model, not as profitable, but hugely important.
You numbers are a bit weird, lots of it off by a year or two. But it probably doesn't matter.
Roughly, it's been three to four years per half model life cycle. But in the current context, that probably doesn't mean much. Porsche has been stringing out the 982 (AKA the 718 or really 981.2) since 2016 without replacing it / updating it.
I imagine there will be a 992.2 next year or the year after. But wouldn't simply assume that based on previous years. Everything is in flux right now.

992.2 is almost certain to be a model year 2024 car. Hence released second half or later part of 2023 for production after summer factory shutdown etc for late 2023 and 2024 deliveries. RHD production may not start immediately at that point.
Certain to be a very big price increase at that point too given current demand.

For IPO purposes, I don't think the 992 has much impact. The 911 is pretty much maxed out.
Another really successful EV to compliment the Taycan, on the other hand, that might get the investor community excited.
In any case given the long multi-year lead times for new models, not really plausible to time a launch for the IPO. You can tweak the timing a bit, but you can't suddenly decide to launch a new model next year. Takes years to design, engineer, develop and get a new car into production.
More like when they were thinking about doing the IPO, they will have looked at the road map of new models and factored that into their decision regarding when to do the IPO, not the other way round.

I recon 992.2 will be timed just ahead the IPO, to generate max enthusiasm for the brand and the listing.
Now I want both 911\992.2 car… and an old-fashioned Porsche stock\share certificate issued in that year!
I think it's safe to say the 992.2 is pretty irrelevant to them, they will be much more focused on the EV Macan. That is going to be the cash cow. The 911 is just a halo model. Now I want both 911\992.2 car… and an old-fashioned Porsche stock\share certificate issued in that year!
