That's because the Targa did not get the Lowered Sport PASM suspension that other 992.1 GTS all had, so has spring rates that are around half and a much better ride.

There are also some (but very few) GTS 992.1 coupes/cabrio that had the Sport PASM optionally deleted for the 'normal' suspension.

Perhaps if it says 1k miles, then it's the OPC's demonstrator which they may not yet have had delivered?

Regarding your order, did you get another invite to a Driving Experience?

no. i was told a couple weeks ago, that it would be sent shortly as pec did not have the car their yet.

In the Chris Harris review of the new GTS, he specifically mentioned that the tyre noise was massively reduced.
Harris was driving the car on smooth Spanish roads.

Check Harry Metcalf review on the same subject, he tried a base 992.2 on UK roads and the verdict was pretty much the polar opposite.
Exactly. When manufacturers launch new cars they are careful use locations that flatter first impressions.
U.K. roads are notoriously bad for NVH (noise, vibration, harshness).

I would assume that the base model on the 19/20 wheels, non-sport suspension and tyres with low rolling dB figures would feel best.
But wouldn’t expect much difference between .1 and .2

"Whereas I have no issue with everyday driving in the 992.1 Targa GTS".

I had a Targa 4 GTS 991.2 (18 reg) as well and found it better for everyday use than my 991.1 4S.
Perhaps the Targa version softened the ride?

Yes. Having now sampled all of them at length I think the C2 is the best for road noise, and a few other things too. I am on Michelins now.
Dont be fooled though, the wheels are flipping huge things, even as 19/20's

As GuyR said above, the Targa doesn't get the lowered suspension.

I'm not sure how the 991 Targa compares against the 991 Coupe, but my 992 Targa GTS definately rides better than my old 991.2 GTS.

Think I'd be putting my money into a 992.1 GTS at a similar price, as OPC's are knocking them out brand new (stock available) at 20k discount.
This Gen 1 GTS listed today is lovely

The problem is that about 90% of the 'base' Carreras had the bigger wheels optioned back on, thus removing one of the benefits of going for the base model.

Yes.

I have bought 2 complete sets of 19/20 inch Carrera wheels brand new for under £1,000 each set from Ebay. Thats wheels and tyres.
This is due to "Upgrades" from owners "needing" 20/21 inch sets.

Apparently removing nearly all the air from a pneumatic tyre is seen as an upgrade in a road going vehicle these days.

What nest? lowering the vehicle so much you need a complicated electric axle raising system to get over small bumps? No, that would never happen.

Mr Michelin would be rolling in his grave.

The Good Year tyres on my GTS are noisy, but it’s not a major issue for me. Maybe changing the the tyres that come on the .2 would be the way to go, for anyone struggling with the noise?

We've a Carrera on order, with a build slot in Feb, so expecting a late March delivery all being well. It was a special paint job, so although ordered some time ago, Porsche being as they are make the 'PTS' (it's not - it's just from the extended pallet) more limited in its availability.

Very much looking forward to it........even though it's my wife's car.

Seems a bit of a stretch when when there are 6 new ones for sale (no doubt more sat in the back) at list to try and get overs on a used car.

Indeed. Clearly not walking out of the door like the previous generation did.

That said, as a Gen 1 Targa GTS owner who placed a deposit on a Gen 2 but subsequently withdrew it, they just seem too expensive now for what they are. My Gen 1 was around 145k, and for the exact same specification it was coming out around 170k this time (a chunk of that being that Aventurine Green is now PTS).

At 175k there are just too many other options available, and also clearly the world is not the place is was back in 2021 when the previous generation was released.

The order book for GT3 has opened today, as has the configurator for it. It would be interesting to see how available these are this time around as last time around I was told I didn't have a chance of getting one.

Another loyal customer ... shame on Porsche when you look at how many they built ... and how many are now for sale.

Any news on 992.2 S? I don’t have amazing DP contacts but a friend from Germany who is a serial buyer tells me there has been a rethink on the S, and hence why the T was released first.. we can all guess that price will be between T & GTS, mid £120’s but does anyone know if it was to be hybrid T and now non hybrid or was going to be non hybrid and is now hybrid T? Manual option? My friend seems to think that this will be the most important 992.2 launch for Porsche and that they might offer a full set of options on it, including manual and wider paint options. Anyone can bring us up to date?

I’m a serial Ferrari owner but have bought enough Porsches to know a few DP’s. From what I can gather there has been a rethink on Carrera S. Was meant to be a Hybrid T but a complete 180 and now is going to be ICE only and release is imminent, within next 2 months. Very secretive on Engine option and if Manual offered. Price we all know, and they will milk production of it.

test drove the .2 GTS at Silverstone yesterday and the car is unbelievably capable.
does not feel at all like a turbo car, instant power/torque when needed and the ability to have lots of rear slides when induced.
i have a.1 GT3 and was in two minds to fulfil my .2 GT3 allocation as the price hike of almost £50-60k with PTS was hard to swallow.
after driving the .2 GTS i cannot see the reason why i would want a .2 GT3 as the .2 GTS in the real world would in my opinion be just as capable.
