Personally don't understand why people think they are entitled to that.
I agree that is probably excessive depending upon the circumstance, in the same way that I think that benefits with the OPC are worth more than money, but £1000 compared to the likely £3000 value of two months off the road is just not fair to my Yorkshire values. In fact, I think it's taking the p*ss and potentially breeds recourse to more serious actions ... ??

Not everybody "doesn't use their cars" at this time of year ... it is an unreasonable expectation even if it may be an amelioration for some ...

I was chatting to my pal today who was affected by the recall, his car was off the road for 86 days in total, he had the hire car and got £3k compensation.

If it helps my car was off the road for just over two months and I received 3.5k. No loan car and no finance. For what it’s worth I was happy with that first offer and didn’t haggle.

Not comparable anyway since in the US OEMs can, and often do sell cars for more than their MSRP so perhaps the owner has had to pay 'overs' to even get it.

I've yet to see any benefit of centre locks. I have a 911 with regular wheels - were I to ever upgrade I would try to actively avoid centre locks.

I agree, centre lock wheels don't appear to be materially lighter than five lug wheels ... as mentioned, even McLaren use five lug even where carbon brakes are standard on the model ...

That's because for road cars, there are no functional benefits and only downsides. It's pure cargo culting of race cars where there's a use case for being able to very quickly change your wheels during a race.

And as far as I know, the centrelocks on Cup cars are different from the road cars.

There's one aesthetic benefit - they look cool and create an association with race cars, that's about it.

Had "normal" wheels for the last 3 911's so I fancied a change as they looked nice. Plus easier to get the hand in to wash them smile that's all. They're just auto jewellery really aren't they

They literally just come to your location and jack the car up and swap out the nuts.

Should take them 40mins max inc cup of tea.

Mine was off the road for 2 and 1/2 months. Did have a good loan car (Turbo Cab).

Just been offered £1,250 from OPC.

Fair?

Given you had a nice loan car and fair probably - in line with the £500 a month with loan car or £1000 a month no loan car!
