Roll over hoops are normally black.

I keep my roof in the boot - and have done since new in 2010. The main roof I keep in the correct storage compartment but the plastic rear window section I keep unfolded in the rear boot to avoid risk of it becoming permanently creased.

Thanks I'll follow that advice .

And yes I meant roll hoops rather than the red roof latches .

Wow owned from new cars still out there . Any thoughts to change or still happy .

Ohh that's lovely...

But I am biased, although prefer black hoops as they don't detract from the lines.. imo of course.

I like the co-ordinated colour hoops have them on both the Spyders .As far as the hood if you are leaving it folded up in the boot I would but a little bit of padding as you will get indents on it from the two foam pads in the roof deck .If you roll up the scarf bit it will not crease I often lay it out loose if no roof is on for a while but with our Scottish weather that's not often .You do get wind noises and creaks on the drivers side .Great cars enjoy I think the 987 is special old skool feel as opposed to the 981 .

I am planning to change out to 718 Boxster GTS later this year when it is launched. Planning trip to Frankfurt Motor Show wheere I anticipate launch taking place. Part of me will miss the exclusivity of the Spyder but I have never kept a car so long (testament to the enjoyment driving albeit only 15000 miles!) and I just feel like a change. (Had planned on 981 Spyder but lack of PDK precluded it for me)

Finally picked it up today . Drive back from OPC a bit unnerving with wind noise and rattles ..... Got home and got the roof off , fantastic !
It was perhaps the wind noise (with roof on) more than the roof process itself that put me off buying a 987 spyder when it came out.

They are fantastic cars, however. Especially with the roof off.

When I first drove the Cayman R (PDK mind you...) on an extended week's test drive it was the best car I'd driven at that point no question (including Lambo's/ferraris etc) in terms of the actual feel/drive. I wish only wish Ferrari would make a 987/981 sized car!

The cayman is also imperfect as it is boomy at 70 sadly. I guess you can't have it all. 987 spyder rather than cayman R would probably be my choice out of the 987 specials :-)

I think the value play is a 987 and fit sports cat headers at Carnewal to open the sound up a little.

.
Had a couple of Cayman R's in the past . Love them but had to tick the 987 Spyder box. I Had a 981 Spyder last year and think these 987's look good value at half the price .

Finally had time to tax mine and take it out for a couple of hours yesterday:

I had been driving a 356 for the past couple of weeks and the performance difference is unsurprisingly startling!

Likewise... all personal of course. I think the painted hoops adds perception of height where you don't want it and detracts from the humps a bit.

Looking forward to Wednesday, getting off to France for the annual trip to Le Mans 24hrs.

Any other owners heading down?

it's the Cayman R Sports design steering wheel, and yes nicer than the standard Spyder one, I have never seen that wheel in a manual Spyder
but it's standard fit in the R. quite expensive to buy 2nd hand or from the OPC.

Yeh Mike at Ashgood had one for sale, pretty much brand new, and did me a deal when I picked it up, feels very nice. The other one was ok, but this just felt and looked better.

Must say I was really impressed by those guys, got a free bag of sausages too from the farm shop next to them, winner...

Pirelli P Zero are the sttest thing ever, I cannot work out how they get away with this tyre or now it can be N spec.

I just bought another car and ffs it has P Zero's on it, bloody thing wheels spins in 2nd gear ! that's another £800 on new tyres as these are coming straight off !!!

PS all Porkers understeer quite bad imo esp out the factory and that is made worse by the P zero which has zero turn in performance.
Ingerestingly - well maybe - if you look at the car hamster has just totalled I swear the rear boots look like these pirelli p zero.

I didn't think you could heat 918 buckets ? ( thought it was only option on folding buckets )

Is that a white rim on wheels rather than silver ?
