Great info on the roof.
2 things I do differently. Roof up.
Press and hold key fob for windows down and boot to pop. Like the noise of that.
Then lift boot from passenger side. Fins pop up when you lift roof out.

2nd thing for roof up.
Only push boot down after pressing the key fob till windows up and locked. Just makes the hook engage easier.

I really enjoy this forum. There is an enjoyment with the fellow spyder owners.
Missing mine at the moment. 3 months with porsche. Not great for a topless car in summer.

Yeah mine too, £160 plus retention fee! I had two 987 Spyders and had looked for plates for those but never found anything I liked. I’ve only recently taken a delivery of a 718CS so not looking to change for a while, also not in a position financially right now! I’ve been told as a loyal customer getting me a 718 Spyder shouldn’t be a problem ... we’ll see ...

Anyone had any news or got any ideas about the timing for the 718 spyder?

I'm hoping to get one in 2018/9 to replace my 718S which I've had for a year.Im hoping they won't be impossible to get like a gt3 etc.

I have been thinking about a gts but at the moment my thoughts are to wait for the spyder.Anyone got any thoughts on a gts v spyder decision?

So just wanted to say I had a top notch experience with Porsche Guildford today... Lifted my 987 Spyder up on a ramp and showed me around it before it had it's 111 check... Glad to say it passed with flying colours and I'm about to put a two year warranty on it.. Macan diesel ain't bad neither!!!

I have had an LOI in for 718 Spyder since Jan 2016! I currently have 987 Spyder and was hoping for a 981 Spyder a couple of years ago but lack of PDK option ruled it out for me. I was holding out for 718 Spyder but fears that the cost may be considerably higher than 981 - as talk is it will retain flat 6 giving Porsche justification to hike the price plus the "fear" that there will again be no PDK option has led me to place a deposit on 718 (Boxster) GTS. I will swap for Spyder possibly when it is launched but this (I think) is likely to be 2 years or so away !

718 Spyder around 18 months away.

No PDK option.

As previously posted, likely to be far more expensive than 981........ parity pricing with 718 GT4 expected also influenced by role and pricing reversal between Cayman and Boxster.

Likely premium post launch otrc + £20k +.

I can believe the above as inflation and the repositioning as the boxster above the cayman would point to a fair price increase, alongside Porsche clearly pricing the 981 spyder 5-10% too cheaply.

Thanks chap really helpful.

The gt3 and 964 are both my Dads but i do spend a lot of time in them.

Did 150 miles around my local roads today. First impressions are that its amazing, its just so agile and alive.

I still dont think anything touches a Mezger but for a non motorsport unit this is amazing.

That's my old car smile You bought it from JZM? Hope you are enjoying it. I regret selling it tbh. I changed into a 997.1 turbo. The 997 turbo has way more torque/power but tbh once you get over the straight line power (which is awesome) it is pretty boring to drive. Only six months into the turbo & already wondering whether to change.

You will be pleased to know the Spyder was run in properly & I had a gtechniq detail from new. Enjoy!

Hi - Been looking for an interesting car for a while, and keep coming back to a 987 Spyder. After having a great 986 S, followed by a 996 C4S that needed an engine rebuild, I am looking for something that can restore my faith in Porsches.

I am looking for a manual 987 Spyder in white (with silver Spyder wheels), with PSE, SS and Chrono plus being desirable. Beyond that, I am flexible on the spec. Looking to keep the car for a while. There are a couple of cars that meet my needs listed currently, but would welcome suggestions from anyone here. If you know the cars listed, then it would be great to hear if they are solid cars. Thanks.

I have pretty much the car you're looking for but no chrono and the wheels are black . Never really got the chrono thing .

I'd add bucket Seats to your list too.
I bought mine with P warranty which still has 18 months to run.

It's becoming tricky finding one in the right colour and spec that people will sell.

911V sold one in a day this month at 55k but it had done less than 5k miles.
Good luck with your search

Not looking for a super low mileage car as I will be looking to enjoy the car (3k miles per annum?). I see 911V has an interesting car at £46.5k, and Ashgood with twice the miles at £40k.

Neither of those cars have buckets, they really do make the difference for me.

That said if the seats don't bother you then the 911v car I'd be looking at

Hi av : Flat NA 6 ?
Sorry Rich, just spotted this from last month!

Good question on the new engine for the 718 Spyder.

As its not officially a GT car, who knows whether it will be na or turbo.

The GT4 will undoubtedly be na probably with the powerkit but detuned engine from the old Carrera S.

Would like the think the new Spyder would be similar but there are no guarantees.
