I'm pretty confident the mules are running turbo engines and not NASP ones - the muted, bassy tone is quite obvious to me.

Whether it's an F4T or F6T I'm less sure of, but as of right now I'm betting on F6T.

So what I was told at PEC was incorrect?

According to Porsche Experience Centre, where they had on show the F4T engine, it completely fills the 718 engine bay and the F6T wouldn't even come close to fitting as the Turbo & extra cooling are HUGE space invaders

I'm pretty sure the PEC folk won't know what the development guys at the factory are doing.

The 718 mules have such a large rear end, I don't think it's impossible to think that they've found a way to squeeze the turbos in there.

Am I alone in thinking it amusing that after all the "718 sounds awful versus sonorous 981", not one poster on any forum can identify whether the prototypes have a NA 6 or a Turbo 4
To be fair mobile phone microphones don't exactly have a flat frequency response nor do they work particularly well over distance.

Hi,

Thought it was about time I introduced myself after much searching of this thread. I've today just paid a deposit on the 981 Spyder at OPC Nottingham. Sorry no pics yet! This thread has given me great knowledge on what's what. Till 3 weeks ago I'd never even thought of looking at a spyder, me and the girlfriend popped in to have a look around, I had at the time 997.1 C4S but see loved the boxster that OPC Wolverhampton gave us as a lone car last year. So I rung 911 virgin up they took my 911 of my hands 2 weeks ago,(on the site now) Much looked after but if I'm honest I always worried what could happen with those engines and it tainted my ownership experience slightly even though I kept it 4 years, I never loved it. So potentially picking it up mid week as i'm away from Thursday to Sunday so will have to wait till the week after!! I don't think I can manage that. The sound of it sold it for me, what a noise!! Reminded me of my old man's cerbera. Anyway take a look at it see what you think, it's missing heated seat as it has the 918 seats but that's a comprise i'm willing to take. If you don't want a white or yellow one there is only 2 for sale I can find. Anyway thanks for all the info guys and will post pics Soon.

Top man.
You’re going to love this one !!
I just spent the day giving mine a Spring clean....
I’ve racked up 14.5K miles over the past two years and each journey has been an adventure.

Enjoy.

You have made the right move imo. I went from a 997GTS to the spyder. The issue is that porsche sold it too cheaply and that comes clearly into focus when you compare it to a 911.

The Agate Grey one at Notts...?? If so: well done.... wink Such a nice colour on these.... And a top spec to boot: I’m a carbon interior /bucket seat fanboy.... Nice work....!! I own a GT4, but have driven the 981 Spyder a fair bit: awesome motor.... (just a shame you didn’t have it last week for that blistering April “heatwave”....!!)

Great car that the 981 Spyder is there is a ceiling price £ Porsche can ask for a Boxster whereas the 911 is virtually unlimited.

Hey guys,

Thanks for the positive replies, yes it’s the Agate grey one at Notts.
Spec is as follows.....

20- inch Spyder design wheels in satin platinum
64 litre fuel tank, was there a smaller one?

Alcantara package
Centre console trim in carbon
Fire extinguisher
918 buckets
Coloured wheel caps
Phone prep
Smoking package
Sound package plus
Two-zone climate
Storage net
Stitching in contrast colour including door pulls.
Car has 7k on it

Looks like I’m going to have to wait until the 31st to collect, I will post some pics up as soon as it’s on the drive.
Cheers

In part yes. But of course its a limited run special called a Spyder with a 911 engine so if they choose to position it higher they can (like the flip on 718 cayman /boxster pricing) but for now they wont. In cost terms it must be on a par to build vs a 911 possibly more given the hood development.
