Firm views as usual MrD...have you actually driven an N1 or PS4 equipped 981 Spyder or can you point us at the comparison somewhere that backs up your assertions?

I have driven P1 Pzero on the 718, back to back with my N0 P Zero 981 Spyder 4 or 5 times and N0 too many times.
2 weeks ago I did a 718 GTS review when I had said car for a day with N1 Pzero on, back to back with a PS4S car and N0 P zeros.

I have not run PS4 on any thing as that is a Hot hatch tyre really, I DO Run PS4S on 2 of my cars both of which had Pirelli on which I binned.
I have also ran MPSS x 5 sets, Good years F1, Dunlop Race max. Cup 2 N0 and N1, Bridgestones, PS2 x 10 sets.

I would do some research , watch your model numbers as the PS4 is not a PS4S, and go drive some cars with said tyres or read some tyres tests, or just take advice from people who have used just about every tyre going. Their are many people now on PS4S who had P Zero's before in both N0 and N1 models.

:-)

That would be a no then. And you also didn’t say why you thought the N1 tyre hadn’t been tested on Spyder. Tend to find that I follow advice that is a touch more analytical and fact based - but thanks anyway.

981 Spyder is a 718 really(bar the engine) all the main bits which were upgraded on the Spyder over the 981 were carried over to the 718 Platform.
I ran both cars back to back on the same day, and the 718 GTS is about the same power as the 981 Spyder, N0 and N1 spec and 2 of my cars run PS4S. the PS4S is night and day better esp in the wet and cold, and grip is far higher in the dry.

I did think the N1 came a bit later than Jan 2016, but that does not change anything (hence why I thought it had not been tested) I still bet it's not been tested mind you as the cars and tyres were signed off on the PZero N0 early 2015 ready for production in July 2015 time. The N1 was not out then.
The N1 is really a 718 tested tyre.

follow what you deem best, if you love the N1 P Zero that's great news on your part. I hate the tyres either N model number.

Please read my posts rather than making statements on my behalf. I’ve an open mind on what I’ll replace my tyres with - hence genuine questions to understand what is behind your clear point of view. Consider this part of the thread closed.

If it helps, my lower mileage car - 17k - but sans OPC warranty, sold for full asking (£47k) a fortnight ago to first person to view. I had several inquiries after, too. Best of luck with sale.

Nice car, at a good price... wink

Personally, really valued Sports Chrono on my 987 Spyder, simply because of the altered throttle mapping (rather than the fancy clock..!!). However, I’ve heard that this can be added aftermarket anyway, if so desired (just without the clock)....

Otherwise, very nicely specced Spyder....

Correct. It’s a software update (and a new button). It improves throttle response and loosens the PASM as well.

yep my super lightweight 987.2 was speced in the lightest options, but I added the button for sports mode, best of both worlds.

I took the A out for you for PSM ;-p

It's all about the throttle though Sports on is a really nice direct feeling on the throttle.

Agreed— really made the car for me..... Never drove it without the “Sport” button pressed..... (Or the PSE on.... wink )

Thanks guys! It's a lovely example indeed. Let's see how we get on. If no takers, more than happy to hang on to her.

Sports Chrono - I had it on my previous Spyder. It's a nice to have, but rarely used it tbh. As you say, it can be retro-fitted (sans wart), which is the best of both worlds.

PSE on the other hand ... now that is essential! For me, it's the PSE and bucket seats that make the biggest impact.
20 months warranty is also a big bonus for the prospective buyer.

Still sounds muffled and low-revving to my ears.... 6 cylinders— yes; but N/A.....?? Still just doesn’t sound right..... Stick that next to any GT3, and it’s like chalk and cheese....

Yep, they're all really low revving in the clips. It's a bit odd.

Hmmm..... So, question is: purposeful short-shifting (for whatever reason), or a genuinely low-revving engine...?? The speed of the car (as much as you can tell from video clips), suggests that it’s reaching a fair pace at low revs.... Definitely gives the impression of low-down torque, turbo-style....

Agreed, but everyone is adamant it's an NA engine via whispers from the cleaning lady/masseuse etc. It certainly sounds NA to me, but the note is unusual.

Must confess to never having heard similarly engined 911s and 981s side by side before but with its mid-engine the 981 must have a longer exhaust path which will change the sound?

A little bit, but if you listen to clips of the 981 GT4 Clubsport and then this latest testing model they sound very different. The 981 GT4CS sounds much more like you would expect it to do.

981 spyder is virtually same chassis as an X73 equipped 981 GTS apart from quicker steering rack I believe. Think the 718 platform was upgraded further still- i.e. bits from 981 GT4
