Never understand these days why it’s even seen as an issue. Most in car systems lack behind 3rd party devices at a fraction of the cost and even worse, most free nav apps perform better... and totally free.

Didn’t bother in the 987 Spyder. Knew I’d have it for a while and any nav would be so dated if it comes to selling time anyway.

Unless already optioned or comes as standard as new, I wouldn’t even be bothered at car purchase about built in nav.
old cars no issue, new cars you can use apple car play, waze etc all on the Nav, and again you can have nav showing in one of the dials, so on a road you don't know you can have a map in the dash.

yes Porsche nav has always been behind, even on the 981 cars. but modern units it's great to have imo.

That red 981 spyder looks beautiful.
Thanks it is a beautiful car and it really suits the colour have had a bit of interest already just not quite there price wise.
Looks great. Best of luck with it. I must admit i am tempted, but looking at other options outside of Porsche.

So true.

But is there really any need to call me a bum wink

Can’t wait to pick it up. And post some pictures... oh wait, you’ve already done that!

Still, happy days ahead.

Clearly the market is dead! 👍
Second 981 that has sold in last 48 hours that I know of. The right cars at the right price can still sell.

I also bought a 981 Spyder within the last 3 weeks...Private sale and at in my opinion a very competitive price.

Attempted to buy an OPC car but their heads were stuck so far up their arse their ears weren't functioning!!! They had the car in stock for at least 4 months, it was late December, its a Spyder (and there wasn't exactly a shortage for sale) but still there was zero movement on the price and their offer for my Cayman R in part ex was frankly ridiculous! Don't mind taking a hit on the part ex but not giving them a clear and easy £10k+ profit on a car with great spec and requiring very little prep. So once I dismissed that car my buying decision had been made and a car was located and deal done within a few days. Cayman R went to Tom at 911V who once again was a true gent and delight to deal with and the Spyder arrived.

Feb 2016 car
1 owner
1,200 miles
White
Silver wheels
Extended black leather
Silver stitching
Silver door straps
918 buckets
64L tank
Wind deflector
2-zone automatic climate control
Storage net
Homelink garage door opener
Mobile phone prep
Black Bi-Xenon lights inc. PDLS
Light design package
BOSE surround
Digital Radio
Reversing camera
Carbon interior package dash inserts
Carbon centre console
PCM
Alcantara sun visors
Smoked tail-lights

I'm sure 981 Spyder owners will appreciate its a great spec car and with the mileage and the fact the previous owner kept it in a heated garage and its never been used in the rain (!) it was IMO the car to buy. A price was agreed and even factoring in it needs an extended warranty buying I've still saved around £5k from buying a similar car from an OPC! The only thing I'm not convinced on is the wheel colour - not had a car with silver wheels for a long time and whilst they look great I feel they would look far better in either platinum or satin black so that might be a change in the future....

Only driven it a couple of times but love it - had fond memories of my last convertible which was an S2000 back in 2002 so some open top motoring is long overdue!

As its still got some manufacturers warranty left on it I found a small manufacturing stitching defect on the canvas roof so my OPC has agreed to replace under warranty so a new roof has been ordered from Germany (special order part) and will be replaced later this month when they can carry out the 111 point check and the warranty can be extended. At just 1,275 miles I doubt they'll be any issues on the check-over!

So I guess the good cars with good spec at the right prices are indeed selling - even in January!

Great spec that car Chris and i agree the Spyder is more enjoyable as a road car compared to a GT4..

There is now a repair/ strengthening kit for the seemingly common under flap stitching defect - if you look on page 956 of the PCGB Spyder thread you will see the before and after. I’ve booked mine in for this before the warranty expires. If your issue is this then I’d seriously think about the kit - it’s a comestic problem really and replacing the whole roof post factory build is non trivial, one owner reported it taking several days and given that they haven’t changed the design there’s nothing to say it won’t recur. Of course if you have another issue then ignore the above!

Thank you for the heads-up on this but my issue is purely a poor stitching one and thankfully I have no problems with the under flap defect others have seen. OPC has suggested the roof replacement is over a days work.

this isn't a dig at Chris but one thing that never ceases to amaze me is that Porsche owners/buyers in general will accept after paying eye watering money for a car that is supposed to be a premium brand that at some point in ownership they are going to have issues with it and its going to be expensive.
I have noticed this from as far back as bore scoring/ Ims issues, everyone knows about it yet buyers just seem to take it on the chin and still buy the car anyway! Porsche must be aware of the potential warranty claims as they themselves will only stand by the product for 2 years.
Marketing or brainwashing at its best.
