think my GT3 would have a 458 licked down the strip ;-)

as for prices, top spec when I speced one was only about £66k, was a cheap car to spec, it comes with most things inc the better buckets which in a spyder you can have heated ;-) not resale spec non heated 918 back killers lol
Well i own both and i can say without prejudice that my 458 feels quicker after driving both back to back.I paid £78K for my Spyder with 3.5k miles which cost £68K new albeit with LWBs.
In all honesty the GT3 doesn't feel that fast after driving the 458..Perhaps my 458 is a particular good example however a lot of it is down to the lower gearing you mention on occasion..

The white Spyder at 911v @£66.9k looks good value for the spec albeit 18k miles which is putting people off it would appear.

Lots of us (me included) prefer the 918 seats and the height adjustability they offer - especially when you’re 6ft 4” tall! I’ve always found the 918 seat very comfortable and I would take the height adjustment (and visual appearance) of the 918 buckets over the heated benefit of the standard buckets. Each to their own and all that....
The thing is 6ft4" is not the ave person, so height adjust would be a must for a giant ;-)

ave UK mens height is 5,9 3/4 ! So hence I generalise on what is right for Mr Ave.

You must remember cars are not designed for people this tall hence you were forced to sell a better drivers car, for a ok ish car due to seats alone !

I’m 5’11 and the 918 seats are the best seats I’ve ever sat in, I imagine if you slouch a little they might not be for you, you need a solid core 😏

I doubt you could do a 6 hour race in them lol more upright then race seats and very little support for the ave person over the Folding GT2 seats.

Any way some one will always like them or fit I guess, but it's the 1st time in History these seats upset and are hated by so many people.
I think they are the worst seats I have owned in a car.

Racers tend to be fit, it’s posture. Besides I wouldn’t say they’ve are hated, the last 200 pages of this thread proves that, and they demand more money in the second hand market. O and the look stunning. I agree seats are a personal thing you like them or you don’t, and I suppose these have been designed inadvertently for a younger fitter driver

David - what can I say....

A giant!
Cars not designed for people of my height!
Made me feel like an act on The Greatest Showman!!!

Admittedly the only reason I sold my CR was lack of space in the cabin but the Spyder isn’t such a downgrade and in lots of ways will offer me more come the summer.

Off to console myself with my abnormal height issue....LOL

It’s true, I’m 6ft, normal build and I struggled with room in my Cayman R. Seat pressed right back against the rear bulk head. 981 has a lot more space.

Yep, I had two 987's before my 981.....I forgot how cramped they were...I am 6ft 2". I also forgot about the funny 'ear pressure' thing that the Cayman 987 hatch did. I got used to it, but what a bodge that was....

Seats - interesting. There’s no doubt choosing the right seat is important to connect you to the car chassis - even more so when we drive quickly. I’m 6.0 and 11 st 7. In my spyder I love the 918 buckets, they fit me pretty well and look fab. What I would say is that when I’m not in in a hurry they are a tad upright and if I’m being picky they don’t grip my upper body perfectly. But I’m certainly not moaning. Contrast that with my 991.2 GT3, I have 18 way sports adaptive seats. I chose these because they offer (me) greater versatility. For daily use they are easier to live with, same on a longer run. But when I nail it, I crank the seat fully, to grab me better than even the 918 buckets in the torso. I accept the 18 ways don’t hold my legs as snug as the 918s - but they ain’t bad. Plus they fold forward (useful in a 911) and position me slightly lower in the car than folding buckets, -Just another view, but this works for me.

as they don't hold you as tight as a 996, 997, or folding bucket seat, they have been designed for a fatter person !!

ALso as it's a bucket seat, it's also not been design for wearing a helmet ! it's just a complete fail all round imo.

As I stated a racer will not sit as upright, the 918 seat was designed for crash test no helmet hence when you wear a helmet it gets pushed forward and down !!

only advantage is people over 6 foot can lower it, a tad more.

Don't buy an Elise :-)

As stated cars are designed around mr ave like every thing in life.

my GF has issues with clothes as she is 5ft,1"

the best thing I loved about my Cayman R was the small size of them, and as cars get bigger and duller, I am after an Elise again.

Took the Spyder in to local OPC this morning (car wouldn't have been happy being woken from a warm slumber in the garage to freezing cold rain / sleet / snow and rush hour traffic!) for some warranty work before the 3 years expires next week! Also having 1st MOT and 111 point check for warranty extension.

Anyway - whilst the Spyder is great the courtesy car is a 718 Boxster and its my first experience of the 718......What a terrible car - Its like driving an underpowered Impreza engined MR2. Awful engine, awful sound, cramped cabin (appreciate i'm 6ft4"), fussy interior etc etc. All in all it made me appreciate the car I own compared with the cars people are now faced with buying.

Lets see if I warm to it over the next 4-5 days.....

The 3.8 not great though lol and lack any excitement.

the 2.9 and 3.4 are far better engines.
