Personally I would like the alcantara steering wheel to have a thicker rim - the standard wheel just feels thin in my hands (I do have big hands!) when compared with other cars. Would love it to be approx. +20% thicker.
I've had a couple of my cars' steering wheels re-done by Royal Steering Wheels; superb job every time (I have no affiliation etc).If you want to keep your original one, then maybe look at buying a replacement secondhand wheel & sending that to Royal to do? Then just put your own back on if you ever move the car on?
Hi all
Want to buy a good spec 981 spyder with 918 buckets and sports chrono. Less than 10k miles. Ceramics bonus but not essential.
I’ve seen everything on PH and AT. Nothing on there for me. Anyone thinking about selling and wants to deal directly with a genuine buyer (previous GT4 owner) please get in touch.
Thanks
Gareth

But if you were running 19s it would probably be sensible imo to use a taller sidewall tyre to get back approximately to the overall oem wheel+tyre diameter and there wouldn't be much real gearing impact. Possible of course to put on a smaller wheel/tyre but that's going to be a bit more involved to make sure everything works as it should in that case as per post above.
Be better to run 19” and the normal profile which would drop the gearing imo. Seems to cause no issues with electronics, so only good things would come of it.
Lighter wheel combo and shorter gearing, win win.
I was going to put my R wheels on my Spyder but never got round to trying it sadly.

Wow, I did't realise the Spyder Alloys on the 987 R was different to the spyder alloys on the 987 Spyder? Or have I misread something - forgive me if I have.Seems to cause no issues with electronics, so only good things would come of it.

Yep ran one last summer, but never got round to trying the R,s 19” but I only think good things would come from it.
Mate...you've got Porsches for every occasion! Did you lose/gain from the purchase and sale of the 981 Spyder? (just tell me to clear off if I am being too nosey!).FrankCayman said:

I lost £7k on it in 8 months of owning it, so not ideal, could not sell it for love nor money even at a cheap price so had to trade it, people are daft when buying imothey could have got a deal but rather pay £7k more at a dealer ! private buyers who phoned up were stupid time wasters wanting cars less than my trade bids !

I'm still looking for a lowish mileage 987 Spyder manual. Have either missed decent spec / decent history cars or the cars that are out there are v close but no cigar (realise I may have to re-align my expectations here as there are one or two decent cars out there, just not quite spot on!.)
Anyone thinking of selling, do give me a shout!

Yeah I was offered that. It’s a nice car at a very good price but lacking Chrono and aircon which I’m still getting my head around if that is a must have or not. I guess the fact the private sale one sold within weeks shows non AC cars do sell.
HiI would you suggest you drop Jimmyp a line, I bought his previous Spyder 3 and a bit years ago and it’s a peach, it’s still in my garage. Nice chap to deal with too.
He posted a page or two back
Good luck
Ed

it's an open top concept, AC is pointless, adds weight, goes wrong then smells like a dead cat. It's the most pointless Spyder option imo, not sure why people get hung up on not having it in this model.
