Just been quoted £1314.00 Porsche centre Brooklands for the four year service on my boxer spyder they said they will match other pic prices charged if I show proof ! Can anyone help?
I've booked my Spyder in with my local OPC for 4 year service and they agreed to match the Porsche Total Transparency price (sadly now removed from Porsche website) of £995 which includes everything (oil service, brake fluid service and spark plugs change).

Work being done 23rd March.

I suggest you call a couple of other OPC and see who will match the £995 deal, then if you really want to use Brooklands give them the option of matching the price. Let's be clear - there is nothing clever about the 4 year service and it a maximum of 2.5 hours work for any competent technician so i'm sure having a £995 sale is better than never having a £1,314 sale....!
Same here, I've just booked my Spyder in for its 4 year service (Leeds) and I was told it will cost £995. Oddly also booked for 23rd!

I can also confirm Porsche Silverstone quoted me £995 Inc VAT including all parts and labour. Colchester quoted me a comedy price.

Opc south London quoted me £995 without spark plugs which are 60 K miles or 4 years or £1250 with spark plugs ! Sussex opc were a ridiculous £1415 and brooklands have agreed to do it for £1250 ! But they do all check the drive belt!!

In relation to the last post, I’ve bought the cigarette plug adaptor for the Ctek.

Is anyone else trickle charging using this on their 987? Does the 12v socket stay live?

Reading differing things on different forums.
I can confirm that this works a treat on the 987.2, with the added benefit for the Spyder that the cable routes nicely through where the two piece roof meets, so you don’t need to trap it in the door seal either.
Terrific.

Arrived really fast, got it plugged in and charging. Whether the battery is totally knackered is a different matter, but we’ll see. But going forward I’m sure the ctek will help keep a new battery in better condition.

Yeah, wire through the gap in roof will work nicely.
It seems to have done the trick. Cigarette lighter connection worked, battery charged and car started.

Hopefully ctek will do its thing and keep it alive and in good condition between drives.

Need to get it out and do some driving now!

Thanks Budflicker, had no intention of swapping cars but I’ve had a hankering for a Spyder for a while and I just fell in love with this so the Cayman R is going and this is replacing it. Hope I’m doing the right thing.

I for one will be interested to hear your thoughts on the change. I love my Cayman R but a Spyder of some description does sound tempting for summer touring.

I think this should help beer

It's in a different ball park to my original fantastic 987 Spyder and I have enjoyed 4 years almost in the 981

The issue is the big 3 things which matter to drivers not posers are better in the 987. So yes the 987 is in a different ballpark for the driver, ie leagues ahead.

I hope the new owner coming from his R don’t miss the things which made the R so good. I did ! Hence my 981 is long gone, I had to buy a 2nd R and still on my 987 Spyder which many do keep after trying both, only ever going to be one winner and it’s the older car.

Looks absolutely amazing! I think they are absolutely great cars - love mine and it's the best car I've owned! Yours is a nice spec and a super colour - there don't seem to be that many GR spyders about, it's nice to see bright colours - enjoy! I had to quote to include your photos as the car looks so good!

Who knows if you'll prefer it over the old R, you'll have to let us know, that'll be interesting, but I suspect that there are areas that each car excels in. In general terms, I expect that the 981 is probably a better car than the 987, just evolution of technology, in the same way the 718 is probably a better car than the 981. It's all down to personal preference.

Thanks for the feedback and comments, much appreciated.

I will post some thoughts on the two when I’ve had the chance to enjoy the Spyder a little.
