not selling any thing just adding lol.

I agree on the Performante best value automatics atm deft have one over a 991 RS.

yes my garage is a bit too perfect it's only took 50 years... I should not be looking at cars at all really as I have nailed all aspects with 2 of Porsche best ever cars and a really sweet Clubsport Golf.

But BMW has trumped Porsche at £50k with the new M2 imo. So I keep thinking sell the clubsport Golf for a M2 Comp and add the Cup Elise.
What’s the CS Golf like? Keep toying with buying one but not sure if it would be engaging enough as opposed to “quick” and clinical.

Sorry Fizzbomb but having wanted a Viper car for many years and then being lucky enough to find this fantastic example of a Cayman R in Viper, possibly the only right hand drive example in the world and in such fantastic condition it really isn't for sale. If I ever decide to sell it I will let you know.

Oh fk it.....£75k would buy itthumbup

reminds my of my Clio Trophy, it's a great car. mine does have a few tweaks, engine mounts, short shift PS4S tyres etc.
very nice car, done 20k miles in it already !

Best hot hatch on the market imo, one loves a Hot hatch. mines the non S just a Club Sport so has the rear seats, but is S spec, buckets, manual etc.
pretty hard to pay the extra for the CSS and loose the seats now there is £10k between the prices. but most people think mine is a CSS as not many people realise there are 2 models.

Looking at replacing my 2015 Boxster GTS (manual) with a 2016 Boxster Spyder which has covered just 3,000 miles - but have a few concerns:

> Paying £78K for a used car which cost £65K new. Looking at the other Spyder models for sale at the moment, the £78K seems reasonable, but I am wondering if premium-price bubble will burst, especially if the new 718 Spyder will have a NA 4.0 litre engine.

> This Spyder has been fitted with CDR-32 (?) radio only, no PCM. This will be my daily car, with no ability to connect phone via Bluetooth. I wondered if the lack of PCM will cause a resale problem later (as it's making me think twice now)?

> Less likely to put the roof down on the Spyder because of the faff involved compared to my GTS.

The alternates to the Spyder I am considering are: 2016 Cayman GT4 or 2018 Carrera T, both for similar money.

Any thoughts/advice much appreciated.

Edited by JamesBGTS on Sunday 21st October 16:51
Spec on all 3 cars is king and these cars are very spec sensitive.

The Spyder needs pcm(as Cheib points out) and buckets. Cars without sell for considerably less. The folding buckets were a no cost option new and heaters are desirable I would not consider a convertible without. Other desirable options are extended leather with coloured stitching and carbon. Same comments for the GT4 and Carrera T.

Chrono was standard on the Spyder but an option on the GT4 and T. Not a deal breaker.

'Manuel' air con was also available on the Spyder and GT4. I have it on mine and it works perfectly although climate was c £500 option and some buyers demand this.

Some specced ceramic brakes but most buyers of these cars at this price point do not demand this expensive c £6k option on these cars but if you want them they are consequently a bargain as price not reflected in cost.

Some specced cage clubsport on the GT4 but these cages can be noisy furthermore they add weight on an otherwise nicely balanced car.

In terms of driving the 3 cars the GT4 is the least usable. Absence of front lift and restricted clearance similar to GT3 is an issue to some.

The reasonably hardcore GT4 is a great package at the money and provides superb involving road car driving with a great clutch and gearbox although many find the lack of GT engine a major let down for a Porsche GT especially on track.

The Spyder is also a great package and is favoured by many, including myself, over GT4. It has no pretensions at GT car status unlike the GT4. Sounds better than the GT4 too although the synthetic exhaust in sport plus mode is ott whereas the GT4 is true sound although more subdued.

Chances are the 718 Spyder and GT4 will have the n.a. C2S powerkit engine and not the detuned 4.0 GT3. The new Spyder will be priced above the GT4 unlike the 981.

Also the 718 Spyder will have a manuel roof unlike the part electric 981 which only takes a bit longer to put down than your GTS.

Economy on both the Spyder and GT4 is fairly poor mainly due to strangled engines. Economy on the T is excellent.

The Carrera T is a fantastic beautifully balanced package which has been derided by many (the usual armchair experts!) as a parts bin special who have no experience of the car. Reminds me of a 997.1 Carrera S...sounds almost identical too. Probably the last of the narrow bodied Carreras the T could well be quite collectable on a back to basics Carrera basis but again spec is key to the ethos of the car...but keep it basic so PDK pan roof and imo rws are unecessary and expensive add ins in terms of both price and more crucially added weight.

Mine has 'manuel' and T pack and sat nav. Specify lightweight glass perhaps no rear seats and ensure it has dab radio (a number of cars came without).

The decision probably comes down to whether you must have a 911. The fact that the T is turbo does not detract from the car as a package and I speak as a n.a. diehard!

Good luck and let us know how you get on!

Thank you very much, as that information really helped my decision.

I test drove (and bought) a Carrera T from Porsche Colchester. It's Guards Red, like yours. What a fantastic car!

better than a 991/981 :-) issue with the CSS is cup 2's etc, just seem pointless on a hatch back and there is a lot of cabin noise.
The CSS seems pointless, very little changed in the S if you went for a spec the same as mine.
same car, same aero, you have to have the magnetic dampers with the CSS I have nice passive units you also miss a lot of the nicer daily items which come standard on the CS.

I was tempted by a new pre regd delivery miles CS a few months ago , as you say makes a nicer road package to the S but with all the right bits but sadly we ended up with a last build LCI ( facelift in BMW talk) Mini JCW as the misses has always wanted a mini. I believe you recently had a JCW but didn't get on with it,build quality of BMW products is not up to Porsche but the I-drive is far superior to PCM, the 18" run flats (Dunlop sport max) are bloody awful.
But still a fun car to drive but room for improvement ie some KW coil overs and 17 " wheels fitted with PS4s.
Back to topic I have always maintained that the 987 spyder with the power of the current 981 spyder would be one of the very best Porsches to own! The spec of my old car if I could have built from new I would have ditched the PCM and ticked the Bixenon box, it makes me laugh with the same system in the 981spyder/gt4 why some still think it's a must have , now if it had a system as good as the i-drive that would be a different matter!

Just as a reference for steering, have you driven something like an M2 (or for that matter m3 or 4)? And thoughts on that? Anything like that would completely put me off.

Can’t believe that my ages old Spyder thread still runs so successfully.

Or that it has become a Carrera T love in.

Can’t pretend not to be quite pleased about both!

Spent a lovely afternoon out in mine today and called in to the PCGB track day at Oulton Park. Lots of lovely motors there but still really pleased with my T.

The weak pound against euro perhaps? Put an exchange rate of 1.30-1.40 and see what happens!
