Cayman...loads of feel in the brakes...not over servoed and Spongey? Also communicative chassis and "fingertip control"...discuss.

Very surprising given the difference in power/weight ratios. It says a lot about the sublime balance of these Porsches. I was quite tempted by the Alfa for its weight alone, but that 4 cyl turbo sounds horrible compared to the flat 6. The cabin also looks very tacky. Pretty damning that it has less steering feel, if that is right.

Enjoyed the video.
Haven't driven the Alfa, keen to give it a try. Would be very surprised if it tempts me out of my Cayman R
Just as a matter of interest for those that have driven both how does the 981 compare with the R?

I've got a 981 S-PDK and drove an R-PDK about a year or so back. I'm not convinced there is that much difference tbh, but it was hardly a back-to-back test?

When I drove the R, I had a 997.1 GT3 so wasn't feeling the R as a raw, focused machine anyway, but I could tell it was a better road car (for me) than the GT3. Lack of leg room stopped me from getting the R, but that problem has gone with the 981.

In 3 months with the 981, I have matched the last years mileage in my GT3, so kind of backs up my decision process smile

It's Alfa.

But, as I've just posted on the 4c thread, I'd take a Cayman S over a 4c as the latter is a one trick pony.

Despite being a proper Alfista, the CS is on my potential list for this year. Loved the previous model, love the new model even more.

Had the new cayman for a day while my R was in for nav update.

It's feels dead vs the R and gutless in 2.7 vs the R also, steering while better than the new Boxster is not a patch on the R either.
Don't like the centre console either, it's daft the cars rwd there should be no centre console, and last no where to put your phone.

Porsche did a mighty job with the R remap over the standard car imo feels way more than 330bhp. And is a far better map than a cayman s or a Spyder (the latter is just a cayman s map)

The Alfa sounds Awefull like a ford fiesta, and not a great lap time either on that vid.

I cannot name a car which would get me out he R at any price let alone 50k money.
