Just thought I would add to my Brakes post with a couple of pics of my new (to me) Boxster. Was looking for a late 986 (2.7 or 3.2) but having seen a December 2004 987 2.7 with only 34,000 miles I couldnt resist it - the interior was sooo much nicer and the power of the engine seemed to match the 986 3.2s I had tried. So ended up with a very early 987 2.7. Spec is a bit spartan - 17 inch wheels arent as good looking at 18s but have been a good thing so far with the state of local roads !

I have owned plenty of fast cars including 3 Atoms and my daily drive is a C63 Amg coupe - so it was never going to match the speed and power of other vehicles but I have to say I absolutely adore the car. I bought it to replace a 2002 MX5 as having had that at the 'Ring the lack of power was just depressing - even if the corners were great fun. It handles really nicely and is a very civilised convertible. I will be tracking the Boxster a certain amount (Goodwood, Spa etc) but it hasnt been bought as a pure track tool.

Anyway here's a couple of pics:

Lovely care mate - 17 inch wheels are fit for purpose even if they don't fill the guards out like 18s or above.

Good colour combo as well - I am biased but think Silver in any derivative is a fantastic colour for a Porsche.

Enjoy!

Mine's on 19s (my first Porsche too). It looks nice stance wise (I'm not that keen on the wheels), but the ride is quite harsh and crashy. I'd like to give 18s a try.

Yeah I think 18s are the best compromise - I looked at one on 19s and it was very harsh. Looks good though !

Is there anything you miss about the MX5? I've got too many options and am trying to narrow them down a bit.

He presumably misses having to cut a whole in the floor and push the car along with his feet...

I jest.

A good-looking car, mate. Congratulations!

Its hard to find much I miss really as the Boxster kind of just does it all a little better ! Maybe the size - the MX5 was great in that it was so small - reversing you could look down on the rear bumper ! But overall I am really pleased i changed and love the Porsche.
