Only the earlier cars could get buckets, they were removed as an option in 2015. Plus they're the folding versions which sit higher in the car than the Sports Seats Plus. So I would say they're not a must-have.

I agree on the GTS interior pack and the Spanish gearbox though wink

Interestingly, the PDK cars seem to be selling better at OPCs. Two manuals have sat for months.

I took a 718 manual out the other week which confirmed that PDK was the right choice for me.

I don't care for the GTS interior pack or buckets either. The CGTS is without doubt the best Porsche road car I've ever owned. We are lucky punters 😄

We are indeed sir. They are fabulous road cars for realistic money, the like of which we will never see again.

Don't say that - residuals are one of the things that will help me win the 'upgrade' argument with my wife when the time comes for a 718GT4 or similar. smile

I've just checked the spec and neither of the manual cars have climate - just manual aircon. Major spec oversight which would put me off on a £60k car.

Other than that, the red one looks good with interior/exterior pack and PTV. It also has BOSE, parking sensors and nav.

The silver one has alcantara delete, an acquired taste for a GTS IMHO and not great for resale.

I think the main reason that the silver one is hanging around is the colour of the interior , not sporty enough for GTS.
Doubt that lack of climate control is a factor, I certainly don’t miss it in mine, and all my previous cars have had it.

Well, my old car has gone up for sale after I px-ed it with Portsmouth for my 997 GTS - looks so tasty I almost want to buy her back! Used prices appear very strong, spec of that car was £68K new (excluding a £1K discount I managed to secure which I thought was quite impressive!)

how much of a knock is average on a similar px?
Not sure what you're asking exactly but my px value was 55.3k. Could have probably done a bit better but it's difficult when they've got the only example in the country of the car you want :P Manual rwd 997 GTS coupes make GT3s look common as muck!

Surely manual AC makes you more "connected" with the car and goes with the ethos of the manual smile

While I personally think climate is highly desirable, it's pretty obvious from many other postings that many (perhaps most) new to Porsche don't realise that the standard offering ISN'T climate. So I suspect that there is more to it than that.

thanks - that's exactly what i was asking. new to sports cars and though i have no intention of selling any time soon, it's good to get a handle on px values.

good luck with the 997 - sounds like you've been lusting after one for a while smile

one thing about climate control i'm not sure about. if i set a given temperature and set the fan to - say - 50%, once the temperature is reached, shouldn't the fan auto reduce?

I reckon that a well specced 981 GTS will do pretty well long term. Don't think anyone will be making money on one anytime soon, but it should be fairly cheap motoring. It will be interesting to see how PDK/manual residuals compare in the years to come. If the manual had 997 ratios in it, I think it'd be a slam dunk for the Spanish option, but as it stands I think there'll always be love for the PDK as well for those who think the manual was a "close but no cigar" affair and are willing to trade some interaction for added practicality and a bit of extra performance.

If you "set" the fan it stays set, but if you are in auto the fan reduces as the set temperature is reached.

I don't believe the GTS interior pack is crucial for desirability or resale but retaining the GTS alcantara / leather combination certainly is. The full leather (or alcantara delete, call it what you will) eliminates the GTS character, replacing it with the "normal" Boxster interior trim.

Have you tried a folding bucket? I am over 6ft and wouldn't want to be seated any lower. They are perfect IMO and I anguished at the time between them and 18 ways.

The buckets were still available here right up until the end of the run, so if somebody wanted them in the UK I reckon you could have pushed for them. My order locked in Feb 16.

Only 10% of the cars sold in Aus were manuals, so I guess the UK was the same. It would also come down to the spec of those manuals as to how well they'd sell.

Yes I've tried them and I much prefer to be lower in the SSPs.

My order locked at the end of Jan 2016 and the buckets were categorically not available here in the UK and hadn't been for a while (I asked before I had tried them in a car). If they're not on the configurator when you're ordering they can't be had. I don't think any amount of "pushing" would have got you any! The lack of late '15 and '16 cars with them here in the UK backs this up.

i'll try again today but when i left the fan unset and set a temperature in auto mode, the fan speed didn't seem to do anything and was always low, even if i set the temperature to something much lower or higher than current air temp.

does the fan display (the no. of lines) change as the fan ramps up and down?
