Hi Guys

Apologies if this is a silly question or if it should have been started on a new thread. Hoping i'm not paranoid but every time I'm parking the car i.e big turns on the steering when I'm parking the car, the steering wheel creaks and squeaks very loudly. Is this normal and would a video to the noise help? Never had this with any other car and I had the creaks since the first day I picked the car up from OPC in Belfast.

Kindest regards
Sam
No silly questions, maybe silly answers wink
It would be best to start a new thread though.
What may be, is the radio and geo on the steering lock, leading to the tyres making the noise as you turn. If so, is nothing serious and all 981s do so. Maybe have it checked at your local OPC or Porsche Specialist for peace of mind. Are you still under warranty?

Lovely! Seen this happening with 488 owners dropping back to 458s.

I've just deceide there will be nothing to change to as a road fun car, love it and love the manual box. It's out of warranty now so I can start playing with it. Long live the flat 6!

It's most likely Ackerman effect, which can be a bit of a shock if you've not come across it before. For once 'they all do that' is actually true. I found it worst when I had a 981 with Pirellis, but it also is quite pronounced with the Goodyears on your GTS.

It’s Viper Green, in reality it’s a tad deeper than it looks in that pic, finding it quite hard to accurately capture so far.
It’s the 2nd time I have lost out on this car, I was about to go for it finally when Porsche Centre Leicester priced it at £65K...

This virtually disappears with Michelin PS4S tyres.

Hey mate! Yes I am still on Warranty - It does sound like I should just drive in to have it checked out just in case.

Noted Pete - thanks for that mate. Just that I've never heard of a 'whining' steer before but there's always a first!

Loving the GTS!!

Then definetely book it in for a check with your OPC. They shouldn’t charge you anything for this service.

Same here on my BGTS which has Pirelli N0’s fitted. Quite disconcerting until you get used to it.

I’m on my third 981 now and all of them have done this. It was particularly noticeable at our previous house as there was a paved drive.

They have had it for ages at top money so not like it sold in a day, daft money imo too close to GT4 money.

£15k less than your average GT4, and it has PDK. Horses for courses.

I know you don't like them, but GTSs are very popular and are holding their value well.

I'm a long term 911 and GT owner, but even I have to concede that the 981 GTS is one of the nicest real world/road going Porsches of all time - simply sublime for the money.

Unusually, for me, I also prefer it with PDK.

That's the thing - it doesn't shout about anything. It's not a 911 and it hasn't got a big wing so it gets less passing attention. It's not uncompromising in any way, it just gets on with going about its business. It's not one for the hardcore GT lovers, but as a slightly softer and more rounded alternative option it's superb. At £60k it's a LOT of car if, like me, youfancy something a little more subtle.

It's the connoisseur's choice wink

I'd agree... I had a very hard time thinking about a replacement for mine, and would probably have kept it if i was a sensible person... GT Silver, X73, PTV, PDK... as a one car to do it all very tough to beat for the money.

In the end, an opportunity was presented to taste the more extreme side, and the GT4 is certainly that and i love it.. but as an everyday proposition - my Cayman GTS was just about perfect.
