Getting to grips with 981 GTS having had it a few weeks...can I just say, the way this thing grips in the corners is insane!

Only got to 0.83 lateral gforce so believe there's a way to go yet! You can feel what I think is the diff (PTV) bringing you round, towards the end of a tight corner
cool

I told you... Weapon.
You getting another as a daily :P

They drive even better with the struts positioned inwards to maximise camber, as an added bonus you even get some feel in the steering mid corner.

Does anyone know what camber settings are best for increased steering feel?
Are they outside of Porsche’s recommended settings?

They would be outside of factory settings, yes, and you may need parts to achieve it - shims and possibly rear toe links. -2 deg up front and -1.5 deg in the rear would be enough for road use, as standard you probably won't get more than -1.5 deg up front but you may get the same in the rear and still have a decent amount of toe in. I could with my 981 GTS.

It's outside the recommendation but position the struts all the way in for maximum camber up front and ask them to dial in a dab of toe in and bobs your uncle.

Just picked up a 981 GTS Manual in Guards Red.

Coming from a 987.2 Cayman S, all I can say is wow! The 987 was a cracking bit of kit and I fell in love with that car over two and half great ownership years. Alas, I got a good price and fancied an upgrade and I am absolutely smitten already.

Spec:

981 GTS
Manual
PTV
PCCB
PSE
X73
Burmeister stereo
PDLS

Yes, had a good natter back and forth with Alex at RPM who I cannot recommend highly enough. Collected it on Saturday and just want to drive it all the time - classically the weather has been utter gash so have to temper the desire!

Alex called it a GT4 light and I am inclined (engine aside) to agree. Very direct, very pointy and tons of mechanical grip! When I saw it had the X73 option, I had to get it.

Lovely. Enjoy it!

I adored that car and tried to buy it back once. Worth noting that the wheels were originally naked but I had them sprayed and I think you'd agree it looks better. Hope they are still holding up.

Coincidentally, I sold it through RPM in 2017 and they also described it a lightweight GT4 at the time! It didn't hang around for very long.

that red car looked like a cracking buy, enjoy!

my own X73-equipped & PTV GTS also coming up for sale with RPM in a few weeks, albeit PDK! if anyone wants an absolute weapon

I ultimately found it "too good" if that makes any sense and want to get back into managing the quirky weight-transfer of an older 911 (had 993 & 964 before this)

Thank you! I did notice the wheels and they're holding up really well, they look great and really set the car off imo. It's really good, the spec is really on point!

Thanks! Yeah, it is really competent and I can imagine combined with the PDK it might have been even moreso!

Epic spec that. Looks like you got a proper unicorn GTS!

I picked up a Guards Red GTS on Saturday too. PDK, PTV, PSE, etc. It also has the leather interior, which I really wanted. I've only done a boring 400 mile motorway slog in it so far, so I'm really looking forward to the weekend. As long as it's dry I can scout some tidy roads!

Have you been through a tunnel with PSE enabled, sport mode enabled and then floored it in 2nd? My word it sounds like a racecar biggrin

Awesome! Sounds like a great car! Whereabouts are you based?

I haven't yet, need to find a good tunnel! Although the start up and a few second gear pushes have got the PSE crackling!

I'd actually argue that the engine note, and exhaust note is far better than the GT4 - I've had both the 981 and 718 variants. GT4 is special chassis wise and the GTS can't quite match that in my humble opinion but it's more modest grip levels make it much more fun in the real word (for road use). Lovely looking car and congrats

Just bought a 981 GTS based on all the good words on the forums.

I have to say I'm regretting my choice. I think I fell for the "sound" myth over better performing cars, it's distinctly average, nothing like all the fawning nonsense posted about it on here.

My review will follow soon, but I'd have to politely suggest people don't get caught up in all the internet hype about a pretty average car.
