I have recently acquired a 987 Boxster S on a (very) late 2004 plate. I have noticed that the sides of the hood overhang the hood frame when you put the hood up unless you stop the movement halfway and tuck the wires into the gutters by hand. I have read the other threads on this subject which have suggested the causes and sure enough the two staps located near the B pillar which would attach the hood to the frame, and therefore give it some tension, have perished. I understand that these for a 987 these are usually velcro but on mine they appear to have been elastic (hang over from 986?). It looks like it will require someone to stitch new loops to the inside of the hood. I have called a couple of trimmers but have not found one familiar with the repair yet.

Is there anyone out there who has solved a similar issue and if so who did you use? I am based in Herfordshire so ideally I am looking for an outfit in this neck of the woods.

Thanks

5 and a bit years later, and I have found this on YT https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=5ZN8ffDBZqc

Has anyone done this? Was it successful, and durable?

Anyone found a repairer?

Really easy to do yourself, you’ll need button hole elastic & some thread with a sharp needle. I done mine & took all of 5 minutes each side. Using button hole elastic will allow you to adjust tension to get it right.

See how to guide - http://www.boxa.net/forum/topic/74134-roof-outside...

Agreed. I did it myself in the end.
