I missed one on mobile.de a few weeks ago. Black, manual, PSE, bucket seats, full alcantara, xenon... 62.000€ with 50 (fifty) delivery kilometers on it. I hope it made somebody else very, very happy...
As for value I think it will depend on what the Cayman GT4 brings. If that is going to be naturally aspirated with a 3.8l engine and a manual option, I think the Cayman R will take a little hit long term. If the GT4 is going to be another PDK-S only affair (or god forbid a 4-pot turbo) then the Cayman R is arguably forever PH’s favourite thanks to the NA 6 cylinder, hydraulic steering, etc.
Spyders are already well on their way up although we’ll have to see what autumn brings.

new cars which are 100% more expensive never affect older cars
if the GT4 is 90k the R will not take any hit.
but the R is a tough one to call price wise. less manual R's than manual Spyders in the UK
and because dealers speced most with sports seats and turbo wheels prob only about 40 manual R's with buckets and spyder wheels in the UK.

Halo Effect
The new Cayman GT4 (981 model)is unlikely to have a direct impact on Cayman R (987) prices but it will replace the Cayman R being the 'fastest motorsport Cayman'. When/if the GT4 comes out, there may even be a positive interest in the Cayman R as it will be highlighted as a bargain relative to the new GT4.
OPC Availability
Current Cayman R prices seem to range from £39,995 to £49,995 but these are being kept high as these cars are on sale at OPCs. Once OPCs stop selling them and the prices will soften.
New Cayman S
Expect the new Cayman S (981 model) to have a bigger impact as people choose the 'new model' over the previous generation. Performance wise the new Cayman S (981) is equal to the Cayman R and it's more economical.
Although I still believe a Cayman R with the right spec (manual, buckets, spider wheels) will sell quickly if priced correctly.
IMO of course. Like shares they could go up or down!
As with any limited model in such small numbers will always command more money.
In the case of the Cayman R its a fantastic car those who own one will know how good they are.
Had GT3s and its a much better road car .
Only way is up in the future as there does not seem to be anything thats a bit special that has not gone though the roof.
Agree about certain specs what does a sports car really need.
