Hi everyone, new here.

So my Cayman is 2 years old and 20k, so needs first service and brake fluid. OPC is £480+£150 and my local specialist/indy is £250+£105. I'm leaning towards the Indy because it is round the corner to me, whereas Stratford OPC I will need to get the tube home/back, inconvenient.

Can anyone suggest a reason to go to one or the other? Will I lose too much value going Indy? I plan to keep the car for a while.

Thanks

Wes

I don't know so just asking, but will it affect your warranty in any way if you go with an Indy?

As for inconvenience of taking it to the OPC, most will loan you a car of some sort whilst in for a service so minimal disruption to you

Mine is due in Dec this year (first service) and personally I'll be taking it to the OPC

I would get the 1st one done OPC and the 1st major also.
Most will collect your car or loan you a car.

All depends how long you are keeping the car.

I'd use an OPC for the first few too - it'll keep value in the car IMHO. If I were looking at a 3 year old car and it'd been serviced outside the network it would put me off I'm afraid.

I've always used the main dealer up to 3 years old and then gone indy after that.

Porsche warranty is only 2 year, correct??

Thanks guys, is it worth trying to negotiate any discount?(this is London remember)

Also do you think they will do a Sat Nav update(6 digit postcode) still for £150?

You could pay to have 3 years warranty I think?

As to discount, there are ways of getting money off - get an email quote and watch out for things on the bill other than the service itself (it was either East London or Hatfield that had a £40 'eco test' on one quote I got). Also if you source your own oil you'll save £90 or (Costco do it very cheap for example).

Unless you specifically refused the 3rd year of warranty cover (and Porsche assistance) when you bought the car, then you are covered for 3 years - it is technically optional as it appears as a separate item when you buy the car

Thanks, bit confusing about 2/3 warranty. Porsche website says 2 years? http://www.porsche.com/uk/accessoriesandservice/po...

Either way I bought this car 2nd hand, about a year ago(Being a year old then). I've had a letter from Porsche saying my warranty is running out end of this month. Maybe the original owner opted out to save money.

I do less then 5k a year so don't think worth my while extending.

I'd go with the OPC if your warranty is going to run out soon. Maybe they will find some work that needs doing that could be covered by the warranty before it expires. If an Indy finds something that needs doing you will have to take it to the OPC to get warranty work done.

If you bought used and the two year warranty is about to expire (car coming up to three years old?) I'd be taking out of the Porsche network particularly as your annual mileage is only 5000. The Gen 2 cars don't seem to have the same risk attached as earlier models so I'd wing it.

Sorry, just re-read, car coming up to 2 years old. I'd still wing it on 5000 miles p/a.

So Porsche East London got back to me with

Service £480
Brakes £150
Emissions £40
Air con £120
Sat Nav update £322.76

I did ask if Sat Nav was still £150, and he said, he had been informed today that it has gone up. Also I replied and asked politely for any discount and told not possible, but emission check can be done at next service, but the Air con should be done now.

Ouch, I know this is my first post and I'm coming off as a tight wad, but hey money is a bit tight.

Air con £120...unless it's lost it's gas they are at it.

Also much cheaper/better to have the air con serviced by a specialist who will fully test the system.

It's booked into Hatfield on Wednesday, said they'll do the Sat Nav for £150, lady who called me was very helpful. Getting a courtesy car, hope it's not a VW lupo lol. Will let you all know how it goes.

Do you know if they will wash/valet as part of the service, or is that too hopeful. Needs a clean and should do it this weekend otherwise. Thanks
