Need more details.

Age, reg, owners, OPC or independent or private sale, warranty, colour and exact spec.

A link to the car would be good.
2 owners, private sale, mileage is now 6k

The number of cars on the OPC locator are dropping week by week. It's now down to 16 cars from 23 at the start of the month. Wait until March and there could be very little choice.
in March you will have >600 new GT4's as a choice and 600 soft top GT4 if rumor are to be taken as truth., and thus as we have seen in all GT models a flood of part ex for it.

It will be a new peak with GT4 for sale imo in 2019 I would not be shocked to see >40 cars for sale come summer on the back on the new GT4.

Ok thanks. It is my perfect spec so was willing to meet the upper end of that and good to hear I wasn’t too far over the mark. Have placed a deposit. Time will tell if brave or stupid.

Probably be 800 718 GT4s and 350 Spyders. Bear in mind the Spyder is a niche car, even more so with the GT4 more hardcore underpinnings for the 718 this time.

Will be the usual story with the 981 trade ins. Many will be poor or weird spec.

lol am going off the last 5 years of GT car sales, so little to speculate about more a educated prediction, so yes it is what it is.

I just don't see the point buying now on this model, no harm waiting 2 months, be snowing next week.

If the perfect car comes up and one is ok losing £10k over night then yes buy buy buy and put it in the garage till the snows gone !. but why ?

I would be putting my name down on a new one mind you and if that failed pick up one of the 40 odd part ex's

I can only offer advice which was asked and that's my opinion on it.

If there are 800 cars that's 23 cars per OPC I doubt they have 23 VIP clients per OPC.

I’d probably agree with that, perhaps at least now I stand a better chance of securing the new one.

That is a very nice spec similar to mine and would have listed over £80k you would have paid mid £80's from an OPC for that car and it would have sold. Don't listen to some of the stuff written, it will always be the same, good cars with the right spec will sell as there are not many of them, be it GT4, Gt3 or anything else. If your happy with it buy it, drive it and enjoy it.

Motor Mag in an interview has quoted Porsche as saying the new car will be shown at Goodwood FOS in July. My OPC has said new car deliveries won't be underway till probably 2020. I too am looking to buy a 981 and really don;t see the point of waiting until March or until the new model as it will still be some time until they hit the show rooms and even then it will be a trickle of trade ins. The new GT4 will be flipped at way over £100k which means the 981 prices will probably not be too heavily impacted.

I don't think the new car will be flipped at £100k and if it did it would only be for the 1st 2 months while supply is low.
plus you stick a better chance of getting a new GT4 at list !

It's all just personal choice, and for me I would not buy a GT4 until at least Geneva it's only in March 7th

Geneva is a big show, what else do they have to show there which is a big model ? no other GT cars due, the 992 has been launched, as has the new Macan.

ideal time to launch the GT4 and Spyder.

If new gt4 is being flipped by say may June at 110k you could have a mildly used Mac 570s for that money !!! I just would not be one to pay overs of that level !
I do reckon the Porsche ( and of course Ferrari) will maintain overs whereas I think most other new performance cars won’t achieve overs from now on. The performante is a good example Of the froth coming off what is an exceptionally good car.

Where it differs this time to last, the people that paid overs last time will be getting burnt big time when they go to Px against the new model, there will have been lessons learnt, I do not think there will be volume of buyers wanting to line speculators pockets this time round I suspect that ship has sailed, not a chance I would pay over list for either GT4 or Spyder after the anticlimax of owning the last model, It would have to massively improved for me to have one and I suspect it wont be on that basis I haven't bothered trying to get my name on one.

What with "B" day looming large I think there is more chance of the 718 GT4 & Spyders being discounted cars than fodder for wannabe speculators eek

If you cast your mind back wasn't 250 the initial production allocation for the UK? The GT4 had potential to be a very sought after collector car. What was the final number approaching 600?

In the interim as pointed out above McLaren has happened so the way those prices are settling 100k will be a nice 570 in 2020. Porsche will produce an amazing car that will have a buzz around it but the half life of overs will be short and flippers I think for the first GT car in a few years are taking a risk. Hopefully the cars can just be bought by genuine enthusiasts.

Agreed a return to normal enthusiastic buyers please !

The 991 turbo is say 4 yr old £90k so absolutely a 570 will be 100k by the end if the year. When you buy the 911 you at least know roughly where your going to be with running costs and depreciation but short of a mac warranty I have no clue what a 570 might cost to run.

Nothing I have seen/read about McLarens has done anything other than put me off in terms of costs/access to get work done or even servicing (underdeveloped dealer network) Hopefully it will improve but the primary thing they need to do is show some confidence in their own product by supplying warranties that are sensibly priced and bin off the silly requirement for pre and post track inspections.

Me also which put me off buying a 2 yr old 650s spider about 2 yrs ago. Which by the way would have been 165k then and now worth likely 120k. Certainly glad I didn’t pull the trigger as the test drive blew me away after getting back in my old and slow f430 hehe

We have discussed the new v used before and it is really apple's and pears.

New GT4 v 2 to 3 year old 570S?

Thing is the 570S may seem like value at £100k this summer but what will it be worth 8 months later...£80k?

And that is your main expense as depreciation it is hard to come to terms with.
