One of the biggest problems Porsche have at the moment that wasn't there at the launch of the current GT4 is McLaren. Maccas are properly disruptive. A GT4 at 80 to 90k or 570 at 100k? You'd be a bit daft to buy the Porsche no? That's the single biggest factor I think for GT4 and GT3 prices particularly the RS which has seen stunning drops from the heights of £250k!
McLaren are tempting I admit until you factor in any McLaren worth £x today will invariably worth £x minus 10% tomorrow.

Major depreciation is a huge turn off.

Not so GT Porsches.

This along with other issues mainly to do with Mclaren warranty and poor dealer support are big minuses.

McLaren are an expensive proposition and they make no apologies for it.
You can buy one or ‘afford the monthlies’ but if you actually want to run it... you’ll need to be will to dig deep, never mind the fully loaded cost of depreciation.
Whilst they are great cars...they struggle @ volume and price point like Porsche... so they are not for anyone that is watching the pounds.
Luxury brand for those with high true disposable income, not attainable aspiration like Porsche.

don't forget with OPC cars there is what £3000+ of warranty in with their stock so this needs to be factored in. Ashgoods GT4 was for sale privately for 2 months as well. Perfect storm really as Brexit is really starting to hurt our industry now plus new one on the horizon and of course the early cars are knocking on now so prices starting with a 6 is already here.

I don't think Brexit makes 2 odds regarding GT4 2nd hand sale.

overs for older cars and the new one's out in 2 months does though,.

only a fool pays over's now on a 4 year old car when you might get a new order at list in 2 months !

seems plenty of buyers on here for £60k Gt4's me inc.

The Ashgood one, what would the new price have been on that? I don't think that is an overs car.

I have very little faith in being offered a new GT4 or Spyder, the wait is killing me lol.

Thoughts on Ceramic brakes?

I don’t think it’s far from list either.
PCCB was 5k, 918 was 3k, PTS was 1.5k..that puts you @£74.5k? on a £65k base...and the car has quite a few more options.

It's more like a £85k car , it's the best value by miles

Mine was £75k, had a free colour with steels, no chrono and no CS pack no DAB.

I am very shocked it's for sale, when people are buying £80k cars which listed at £73k still on this very forum the last month.

Yep, it’s s good value car.. I just listed 3 of the options and got to £74.5k.. so yeah could easily have been touching £80k and beyond once you tot up the full list.

Is it defo CS?. ... I don’t see the cage and CS is not listed as an option.
It has the extinguisher but you can buy that separately.

Anyway You know what you need to do....Jay...

D was referring to his RY one not being specced with CS. Ashgood one is not CS either. I guess the fire ex was fitted later for a trip to Spa (there was something a couple of years ago about Spa wanting cars to have fire ex fitted if going on track....turned out to be a load of cobblers though).

Is there a way to see what the current wear rate is on the Ceramic's?

I would do one or two track days a year and rest is like 4K miles on the road maybe. Only concern is cost of discs will be alot to replace.

I believe you need to weigh them to check wear. I think I also read that you need to swap PCCB pads when they're around 50% worn to minimise disc damage.

I really think PCCBs aren't worth the cost and maintenance hassle/risk. YMMV of course.

there is a set of measurements to be taken on the rotors iirc to determine what the wear level is at.

Would be worth checking the VIN as is it likely subject to the Gearbox recall given the detailed registration date.
It has got a mix of tyres, front to rear. Pirelli P-Zero on the Front and what looks like MPS4S on the Rears... I'd be wanting those changed for new MPSC2 as part of the deal or some money off to fund the new rubber.

They said matching tyre, new fronts but good spot that they are not Cup2 which is what i would want. Also said the brakes are "fine". Just waiting on some service info.

The other one i have seen is:

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...

Doesn't have carbon, PCCB, chrono, but otherwise seems a good spec. Thoughts?

ok cool.

Ref the other car... if you want a GT4 for how it goes, stops and steers - you don't need Carbon, PCCB or Chrono.
It has folding buckets - which many people like.

Out of the 2 - the Ashgood car is more bang for buck.

Ta mate. It doesn't have Cup2s, first service was done when It was 1 year old at 5K miles, now it's year 3 it needs a service, I don't know if this would be major or minor as the servicing was done early.

Can get that all factored into the deal mate, but, I guess this can be the issue with buying this type of car from outside of the network.... the inital price can be attractive - but then you might end up having to negotiate to factor in additional spend you will need to make to put the car back on the right tyres or back into sync with the service schedule.
With OPC price might be a bit higher - but the car will come with Porsche spec, service and 2 Year Porsche warranty.... thats worth something.

True mate, it needs a major service, just spoke to my OPC, roughly £1100, Cup2 tyres £1200 ish? Then if you want to warranty it £1500?

I'll look at all the figures tonight and pop my offer into Ashgood tomorrow.
