No I don’t know, but there are hundreds of cars for sale like it frown

Total loss due to damage, repaired, classification removed, up for sale at high value perfect history cars.

HPI are not interested if approached about it.

I guess the dealer knows the game is up on that car now!

Due to small GT4 numbers and forums like this, I guess an advert will always get noticed and flagged.

They’ll either have to sell it from their forecourt to a passer by, or sell cheaper for export.
The only classification removal I can think of is "condition inspected" on the HPI but it should never be "clear"
It was CAT C.
Now it is not CAT C

Should not happen.

Did happen.

"The insurance company declared it a Cat. C write-off, or in their words a 'total loss'. It's been sold for salvage to a company called HBC in Essex, but it's properly f#cked,
It needs a new body, front and rear suspension, the engine doesn't run, pretty much every panel needs replacing, both seats are damaged, the electronics have been exposed to moisture where it has been left uncovered and open”

The only other way would be to export the car to another country and re import it. Im not sure if this loophole has been closed but certainly a few years ago it's been a known way to do so.

Or it's not the same car.

There has to be some kind of explanation as the condition inspected status is the only way of removing a cat status and its still not really clear although its considered so for the purposes of insuring it as done companies won't insure written off cars.

Not wanting to be rude but if your selling a 3 year old car with less than 1k why did you buy it in the first place ?
They are great cars and you have really missed out not driving it.

Great question. I’ve enjoyed over 9k miles in mine, all over Europe etc. Taking it to Scotland this week and will do another 1.5k miles. It’s what they are for, surely?

Since buying mine I made the mistake of going for my motorbike tests, now I have become addicted to two wheels and the GT4 is getting neglected!

I think since December I have only done 400 miles!!! frown

reckon it will have to go on auto trader later this year if I don't start using it

I was in a similar position. Then I went in track on my bike and realised road riding isn’t exciting enough and to push a sports bike on public roads was too dangerous and potentially licence losing. I lost interest in road riding and went back to cars. To be fair having a daughter during this meant the bike was never being used and having a toy car that could take all of us made more sense. Hold on to the car just in case.

The good news from the wording of the ad is that it sounds like they managed to get their insurance to pay for it to be fixed.

And the bad news it's now a Cat S. Better if it was a warranty issue which Porsche done't yet seem to accept like they finally have over the early gearbox problem.

All this strut failure talk just makes my R look more of a keeper and the upgrade to a GT4 seem less ans less likely.

I do wonder if a lot of this is possibly being blown out of proportion? We know that cast strut towers are used on most of the later Porsche GT models and yet don't appear to have large numbers of examples going public.

As a percentage of "cast-tower-model-Porsches" on the road, how many have failed? Perhaps a percentage of 1%?

Exactly. It’s a risk assessment… I don’t agree with it. But that’s what it is.… part of business.

Like all of these things it should have been see at design, and now Porsche have learned for the 9x2 platform and seemingly made the castings thicker, according to techs that I’ve spoken to that have seen the new 911s.

Can't see what it should have been recorded at all

Of course it's not a cheap fix, but surely not enough ££ to end up on the register??

Hmm...good point. The youtubers' yellow GT4 was fixed for about £10K IIRC. For the ebay GT4 to be a category S and therefore be uneconomical to repair, it must have suffered a lot more damage than a turret failure and associated suspension damage.

Well it looks like reg G11 RAL was reported as pot hole damage.

If Porsche GB looked at it and concluded the shell was outside tolerance, then they would not repair and hence the CAT S.

https://www.vcheck.uk/report/GE11RAL-7WR2J0J/

It’s clearly been repaired though, but might be outside accepterbale tolerances?
