Is there anyone on here with a GT4 in/near Colchester? I've had an itch for one since they were announced, and am hopeful that I should be able to afford one in the new year. But... I currently have an Evora (400) and I'm not convinced the c20k cost to change is worth it. Getting anything helpful out of Colchester opc is like getting blood from a stone, they don't have a single manual demonstrator of any description, GT or non GT, and haven't been very interested in selling one to me generally when I've popped in previously, although equally I am not a buyer at 95k for one! The only other local ish car advertised is overpriced, doesn't have the buckets and, I suspect, is a customer car on SOR anyway, so I don't really want to waste their time given where I am at the moment. If anyone local with one had a spare half an hour and would be willing to take me out as a passenger, I'd be thrilled...

Prob not a nice as your Evora in the real world to drive, but better in many other ways.
Depends what you are after in a car, I am the other way, had a GT4 and Spyder, looking at the Evora gt410, plus a Komo tech remap.

I drove a Evora GT410 at Silverstone the other week on an RMA day there.
It was ok.. but prefer my GT4 by far. Evora punched well and sounded good in the cabin.
Has a different feeling than the GT4. GT4 has the more locked down feel. Evora seems light footed.
I also drove an Exige 410 Sport...now THAT is a weapon for track driving.

Moving between Evora and 981 GT4 is not money well spent imo unless you really really wanted the other one. Better off looking for a different experience for the cost to change it its in the tens of thousands.

FTW

The EA60 transmission is rated to 400bhp. I wouldn’t want to push past that to be honest.

I’d love a S3 Exige V6 but the interior is no better than my S1 which puts me off for the cost.

I'm looking for a 981GT4, less than 10k miles, with buckets, FPSH, and no over revs in 3-6. If anyone is selling especially as they take delivery of their shinny 718s.

PM me.
Hi, sorry I’m slightly off topic and I might be missing your point, but is it actually possible to check if a car has been driven too hard... is this info stored in the computer / diagnostics?

An OPC or Specialist Independent will check the engine for Over Revs...on a manual car....basically if you change down to quickly it can take the engine over it’s rev limit.

Ok cool, so this information is stored somewhere or there is a physical sign of wear and tear on the engine?

ECU records overrevs - it's what the prior post meant by over rev ranges 3-6.

Now this is interesting for a Cat S. The seller has already 'reduced' the reserve so I wonder what trade bids have been.

Still not hit the reserve at £50k. Such a detailed description rolleyes

Ended at £50k not meeting the reserve. I've always viewed a Cat car as two-thirds the price of a straight one. Based on that c£50k is where its at.

A hard data point for those who are interested. My 5,000 mile GT4 club sport with PCCBs achieved £80k SOR through an OPC after two months on sale. List was £82k. I’ve owned since new in 2015.

I’m very happy with that, especially this time of year. Third Porsche I’ve sold and all my Porsche residuals have been strong (unlike, unfortunately, my BMWs over the years where I’ve always taken a bath).

718 Spyder incoming...

Out of interest what do OPC charge for SoR fees?

£5k plus prep costs which were totally reasonable.

Sounds fair meaning you got what is probably the sort of money you would get if selling privately but without the hassle.

ECU records overrevs - it's what the prior post meant by over rev ranges 3-6.
but is not a test to see if a car has been driven too hard,

no OPC car or Porsche indy car would have a over revs car for sale.

a track slag would have a higher ave speed than the circa 30 mph or less you see on road cars.
and that is available in the ECU, bar that it's looking at brake and tyre wear.

Define 'driven too hard'. A well maintained car driven within design parameters ie no overrevs isn't one that has been driven too hard in my book. In fact I'd be much happier buying a well maintained track car than one that only swans about on the high street posing at low speeds.

living at 8k for 200 miles twice a week as a track slag, pulling 1.6G every bend !!

we all know a track car is like 5x the miles on a road car, so while you might be ok with a engine which has spent 80% of it's life at 8k, I would be buying a road car which would have 5x the engine life left in it, let alone all the other parts which fail on tracked cars, well maintained or not, and if you were talking a 991.1 GT3 then I would not touch a tracked car with a barge pole.

Also Porsche calipers don't stand upto well to heat, so they will also be f**ked sooner than later if tracked as will the DIff, gear box, shocks and all bushings. None which will have been replaced on a GT4 yet !! but will all be 5x more worn than a road used car.
