living at 8k for 200 miles twice a week as a track slag, pulling 1.6G every bend !!
we all know a track car is like 5x the miles on a road car, so while you might be ok with a engine which has spent 80% of it's life at 8k, I would be buying a road car which would have 5x the engine life left in it, let alone all the other parts which fail on tracked cars, well maintained or not, and if you were talking a 991.1 GT3 then I would not touch a tracked car with a barge pole.
Also Porsche calipers don't stand upto well to heat, so they will also be f**ked sooner than later if tracked as will the DIff, gear box, shocks and all bushings. None which will have been replaced on a GT4 yet !! but will all be 5x more worn than a road used car.
How many GT cars are driven on track 200 miles twice a week pulling 1.6g every bend? Oh let me see. None. we all know a track car is like 5x the miles on a road car, so while you might be ok with a engine which has spent 80% of it's life at 8k, I would be buying a road car which would have 5x the engine life left in it, let alone all the other parts which fail on tracked cars, well maintained or not, and if you were talking a 991.1 GT3 then I would not touch a tracked car with a barge pole.

And you have some reading issues as I previously noted. I said 'well maintained'. If you are saying you would run away from any car that's ever been tracked and seemingly want a garage queen - Fine if that's what you want. Other people might just think differently. I'd likely be happier to buy a car like ChrisW's for example over anything you might approve of instead.

Define 'driven too hard'. A well maintained car driven within design parameters ie no overrevs isn't one that has been driven too hard in my book. In fact I'd be much happier buying a well maintained track car than one that only swans about on the high street posing at low speeds.

Wonder which car most (ie 99%) would choose to buy other things being equal between a hard driven track car and a well used road car?
Erm let me see.....
According to some, all ex PEC ragged Porsches undoubtedly sell better than all other non track used cars.
Which is clearly bks.

Prob not a nice as your Evora in the real world to drive, but better in many other ways.
Depends what you are after in a car, I am the other way, had a GT4 and Spyder, looking at the Evora gt410, plus a Komo tech remap.

What do you mean by the GT4 not being as nice to drive in the real world? Steering feel? Harsher ride? Wooden brakes? More cabin noise? Ground clearance issues? Something else?
On the Komotec remap - I wouldn't bother personally. The 4*0 isn't lacking in straight line performance and you won't get it on a track unless its an unsilenced day without a much, much quieter silencer - which takes away one of the best parts of the car!
Still interested in a passenger ride if anyone local to Colchester fancied taking me out (I would of course return the favour in the Evora). I'm kind of hoping the GT4 would be like a V6 Exige but with much less cabin noise. I've had a couple of Exiges in fact before the Evora, but got rid of my V6 because of too much cabin noise basically (caused tinitus).

Hi All,
I’m considering a 981 GT4. Is now a daft time to look at doing this with the release of the 718 GT4? Assume prices may drop on the 981 with the arrival of the 718!?
Thanks
Now is as good a time as any. I’m considering a 981 GT4. Is now a daft time to look at doing this with the release of the 718 GT4? Assume prices may drop on the 981 with the arrival of the 718!?

Going by the other thread, over-asks for the 718 will be stupid again. So plenty of room for 981.
Find a car, make an offer - seller will be looking to make a deal in this climate.
Once you’ve got it. Make sure to book on some of the PH GT trackdays and post pics and experiences.

If you don't think you have much chance securing a new 718 allocation either this month or preferably December is as good a time as any to secure a reasonable deal on a 981. Whilst trade book prices generally drop in January reflecting Decembers figures most Porsche dealers are desperate for stock and this generally reflects in rapidly rising prices as Spring peak buying season approaches and the best cars sell resulting in a reduced supply of proper spec and mileage cars.I’m considering a 981 GT4. Going forward into 2020 the outlook for 981 GT4 prices appears quite good and they will undoubtedly follow the 991.1 GT3 price pattern with the best spec provenance and mileage 5 year old cars still selling for c otr list ££.

Yep, moving on to a 718 GT4, it took me a while to make the decision, but onwards and upwards I suppose!
Glad it was there looking good, such a great colour, and spec - sadly no PTS available for the 718 GT4, so I'm going Guards Red.
Can't go wrong with Guards on a GT4 especially with Spyder buckets carbon and red stitching.Glad it was there looking good, such a great colour, and spec - sadly no PTS available for the 718 GT4, so I'm going Guards Red.
Thanks.
I've gone for the buckets, all the red stitching, even leather sills and leather steering column and carbon light up sills! All of which I don't really need but was paranoid with it feeling like a lesser car than my old one when I picked it up!
I went for the standard satin platinum wheels in the end. But was debating gold for a while. Also nearly went white with gold wheels and black calipers.

That's my old GT4 as well. Glad to hear Jonny08 enjoyed it while it was in his care. You really can't go past it, if you are after a GT4. I'm biased of course but I specce'd it so it's perfectly specce'd.Happy to answer any questions as the original owner.
