I might sell mine, £45k(no offers) all the main Sports bits with 27k miles full OPC SH in white in manual of course, very late reg one of the last built.
Does not seem to be many manuals for sale atm but a rare car with the right spec cira 40 UK cars, manual, buckets, spyder wheels.
I think the Teeside one is sold and it has no Sports crono.

So only JZM car for sale atm in manual, buckets again no Sports chrono.

SC really needed in this car imo, as the throttle is a bit lifeless without and the PSM is a bit nanny also SC gives you a nice slip angle..

So I have the only UK car for sale in Manual, Buckets, Spyder wheels, SC, PSE, Short shift, Bose under 30k miles.

the last one for sale was the red one at 911V, slippys on here, sold in days.

will be on show at Silverstone classic in the PCGB area my mobile number will be on the parking slip.
Did you sell the car David ?

nope, not got round to it, I did offer it to some one but I was away when he wanted to view and when I was back he had bought one.
So no advert for my car as it stands, but it's for sale if some ones wants a driver focused R over one with a leather dash lol ;-)

I love the car so cannot be arsed to put it up for sale as I still think they are amazing to drive. but if some one turns up with money I would sell it.

It has the what I think are the 6 most driver focused or needed options though, hence why I bought it in the 1st place at the top money I paid.

I would still say less than 40 R's in the UK with the main R options, so rare things in a nice spec.

Well just had my R in for its warranty inspection, MoT and some new brake bits in the hope of curing the issue I've been having of brake squeal... when I'm NOT using the brakes.

Car failed the 111 point inspection on the battery. Apparently despite starting instantly first time, every time, the battery wasn't good enough and needed replaced. The quote for this was ludicrous but it turned out that this was largely due to a charge of about 180 quid to fit the new (Porsche crap) battery. I told them that I wouldn't be paying that and if it came to it I'd come up and change the battery myself (the last one I changed took a good 5 minutes). When I got the call to say the car was ready I was told the service manager had removed the labour charge for the battery...!

I do wonder if it's worth keeping it under warranty but due to being in a less well paid job than when I bought the car, I like the comfort of knowing that at least some unexpected big bills would be covered. And it has had a few warranty repairs. Then again I want to put some better tyres on it (PS4S) and a few other bit and bobs that the warranty precludes. I can see me buying a set of Cayman wheels with N rated tyres for its trips to the dealer and putting PS4S on the Spyder wheels. We'll see.

Anyway, courtesy car was a brand new Cayman (non S). I know the engine is much discussed but I got into it with an open mind. In my opinion that engine ruins a nice car. I'd go as far as to call the noise unpleasant and annoying. It needs the opposite of a sports exhaust, one like on the Rolls Royce Wraith that manages to make no noise at all. When I picked the R up and heard the 6 cylinders fire it was music to my ears.

Pointless post but this is Cayman R chat I guess!

what have you had to do under warranty ?. I run a Bosche battery and PS4S and my Spyder is way off the mark to pass any inspection. but my OPC look after my cars and they pass MOT with flying colours at said dealers and they are happy to take my money to service both..

I am not sure what a warranty gets you in these cars esp now you have a crap battery and want to buy a new set of wheels for no real reason bar warranty !!!

I have done 40k miles in 987.2 cars and I have only needed to buy a new exhaust bracket, battery , brakes and tyres, all of which is NOT covered under warranty.

The cars have 10 year body warranty the engine seems a strong safe unit, most other stuff is NOT covered.

Under warranty it's had a bit of exhaust changed, drivers window issues sorted twice, a suspension component changed and a horn IIRC. Hard to say what the costs would have been if I had been paying myself as I never enquired and the invoices don't show it. As the car was Porsche approved used I've only paid 1 year of warranty in the 3 years I've had it.

I've no doubt the OPC would happily look after the car still, just obviously the warranty would be invalidated. I'll see how things are in a couple of years when it's out of warranty again but I doubt it will be renewed again. I was in two minds this time. The original battery lasted 6 years so if the new one lasts the same again it'll be past warranty age anyway and the Bosch one will go in.

Re the tyres, if a set of N rated winter tyres on genuine Porsche rims appear at sensible money I'll buy them for trips to the dealer and the odd winter road trip and will put on PS4S on the proper wheels. I have wondered about putting spacers on it too - if genuine they are fine with the extended warranty anyway.

black seems to be the worst seller for some reason, I hate black, but I have had 7 black cars and it took a while to really go off the colour.
I will never buy a black car again.

White seems the fastest seller, unless you have a buyer who is 100% after peridot green. so the green can work in your favor or sit about a bit.

I like it in Silver but again a poor seller, then you have red and blue as the main other colours, with I think 2 yellow cars and one PTS viper green Cayman R !! A sweet thing.

with only about 100 manuals it's very hard to have/find the perfect spec and colour, so one has to know what is the most important features one wants.

the viper green even has the rare as horse st xenons, for some reason xenons on the R is ultra rare.

lets have a viper pic :-)

My old car - sold it last month via 911V, they sold it within 2 hours of it arriving in their showroom. Just goes to show stellar examples with the desirable options coupled with an iconic colour sell very quickly

And my old car also ! Are you replacing it with something else , still got the CS ? Can I ask what they were asking for it . I'd have been tempted to buy it back . Loved that car .

And my white one for completeness

Regarding the warranty, mine has needed three things to be fixed since I bought it at the beginning of this year on 31k miles:

1. Gearbox cable snapped.
2. New amplifier.
3. Clutch pedal sensor.

I think all are well known issues.

Evening Paul - the R will be replaced, as will my 360CS which I sold in the Summer. I now have the enviable prospect of sourcing replacement(s). 911V never published their asking price as they sold the car before it was listed on their website. I believe they were asking around 50. It's the second time I've used 911V - on both occasions they've sold my car on the 1st day of it being presented in their showroom.

There are a few in meteor grey which I think looks great - here is a picture of mine

My warranty is up for renewal next year but I don’t think I’m going to bother renewing it. I’m still on the original battery which can’t last much longer. I think I will get the minor service still done by my OPC but any other work I will probably take to a specialist.

I do love the meteor grey.

I think the only colour i'm not a fan of is black. I've had black cars in the past and wouldn't buy a black car again. I dont think black shows the lines of the R off very well either.

I didn't renew my warranty when it ran out, I saw no real need. And when my battery died I was able to replace it with a much better and much cheaper Bosch one from Euro Car Parts with a 5 year warranty!

Can't wait for the next opportunity to get mine out for a proper blast. Drove it up to Oxford (from Surrey) last month and really enjoyed it.

....David, are you writing the adverts for them now? biggrinwink

p.s. I think it would be better with black spyder alloys boxedin

Black Harbour car under 17k miles

Looks lovely that.

Wouldn't say it was over priced. If I was looking I would probably snap that up in a heartbeat.

I would take the white one with short shift ,Sports chrono, a major servce inc belts just done and Porsche warranty in a sellable colour, why do you think it is over priced ?

it's the same price as the black one but with more kit, a new servce and OPC warranty, I think it's too cheap lol ! I would say it's £2k under priced, I'll take bets which sells 1st with you :-)

I missed the OPC warranty bit, good car then. The Harbour ad doesn't list history, but I suspect you could get the 3rd service as part of the sale as it has been up for a few weeks. SC is retrofitable, as is the short shifter. Mileage isn't though and it's still a big pull for some...
