Mentioned it earlier, don't get why you would miss a service, was wondering if it is there but they have made a mistake on the advert.
Unlikely, but strange to have the car for all that years and miss a service by 2 years.
Obviously no concern to Ashgood if that is them bidding on it.
sometimes life gets in the way, other times you do an oil change yourself if you've hardly driven any miles in them two years. Unlikely, but strange to have the car for all that years and miss a service by 2 years.
Obviously no concern to Ashgood if that is them bidding on it.

If life gets in the way for 2 years that is a very complicated life
depends on if you mean a car hasn't been serviced in 2 years or it just missed one service on a 2 year servicing cycle. I know lots of people who take extended holidays or have taken on job opportunities in different countries for 1-2 years. You only have to take a holiday or get presented with an opportunity or go through a close bereavement at the wrong time for you to miss one service stamp.SarlechS said:

Agreed, but I would have it done as soon as I could, not wait another 2 years. Everyone is different and just a comment on the missed service which would put me off purchasing.

But why would it put you off? Everyone is different and just a comment on the missed service which would put me off purchasing.
if the car hadn't been serviced for 4 years and it was still outstanding, thats different to a gap and it having been serviced in 2021.
additionally - it's not like its done tens of thousands of miles in those 4 missing years.. so the car hasn't suffered.
Its just a bargaining point for any prospective buyer...

Simple answer is - I would be looking for good history, just personal and don’t like the idea of oil sitting in a car doing little miles for 4 years. if the car hadn't been serviced for 4 years and it was still outstanding, thats different to a gap and it having been serviced in 2021.

As you say it’s a bargaining point, so would be the same in future if ever selling.
It is all individual opinions based on what you look for when purchasing, some will be bothered others won’t.

Hi All,
I have considered buying a Cayman R in the past but never quite bitten the bullet. My boss is looking to bid on the below car on Collecting Cars, Any thoughts on it? I know you regulars know these cars well and would be the best people to ask.

Wow, bid up to £43k (excluding 6% fees) and didn’t hit reserveI have considered buying a Cayman R in the past but never quite bitten the bullet. Looks to me like the Cayman R is now firmly in the collector’s market and big premiums payable for low mileage. Or should I say big discounts expected for “normal” mileage? My 53k miler still for sale at £37k after 2 months… and its a manual!

£43k plus £2.5 in CC fees, I can't work out why they don't just list it on PH or AT for what the equivalent would be - this is based on an assumption they were seeking £45K.

A rather optimistic seller I think to assume someone would pay in excess of £45k including fees. Ashgood stopped bidding at just over £32k.
I would certainly much rather have a manual with 53k miles in red for £37k than pay £45k + for this one.
They weren't that far off though, again assuming they were after 45...and if so, then not that optimistic considering this one...I would certainly much rather have a manual with 53k miles in red for £37k than pay £45k + for this one.

of similar mileage is £1K more and lower spec (CD24 thing rather PCM3)

Cayman R arguably a better road car than a 981 GT4 to drive and certainly no slower. Only 1421 ever made worldwide, watch this space I'd suggest, 987.2 Cayman R has all the ingredients of a future high price classic.
definitely a six figure car by end of this decade. Gassing Station | Boxster/Cayman | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
