Well there is now a Cayman R sized hole in my garage
After 11 years it has now gone and has been replaced by………….wait for it-

A VW california…..I dont know what to say…….sorry all!
Afraid family circumstances have altered somewhat and dictated a major change in direction.
Family wagon replaced by a BMW 128ti as well so I have even further blotted my copybook.
To all those with more sense than me- keep enjoying these fabulous cars…..adios.

Cheers Frayz.
Still going to have a tear in my eye when I’m parked up having a cup of tea and an R whizzes past!

Hi AMAC,

Sorry to hear this but a California is a good shout..

Do you mind me asking if your R has gone to a dealer? Reason I ask is I'm looking to fill a Cayman R sized hole in my garage so actively searching out cars and would appreciate any heads up if there's one due to come to market in case it fits the bill..If so a pm would be appreciated, ( if not then don't worry and understand ).

Cheers and hope you enjoy the Cali in 2023..

For those looking out for a perfect spec manual car, mine's coming up for auction on collecting cars, listing in the 'Coming Soon' section.
Was the listing pulled as I don't see it there nor in the live auctions....or did it not sell?

Sorry yes I pulled it before it went live. Nothing to do with Collecting Cars, who were excellent. Purely something personal.

I was the chap who bought the Guards Red Cayman R from John Holland. I've owned a Cayman R before and absolutely adored it. I'm lucky enough to drive an ultra violet 991.1 GT3RS, but really wanted a Cayman R again to enjoy on the back roads. It's also my first red car!

Congratulations! Looks lovely. How does it compare to your GT4? It’s better isn’t it.

Thank you. I used to own a 981 Cayman GT4, which I enjoyed but not enough to keep long-term. The gearing was horribly long. I always had a soft spot for my previous Cayman R and I'm glad my memory wasn't playing tricks! It was such a hoot at the Nurburgring. On the road the R is the perfect partner for my GT3RS; the latter is a circuit car in all honesty.

Beautiful in red! I’m not sure why red wasn’t more popular for the R; quite a rare colour. Looks fantastic.

Is it PDK or manual?

Thank you! It's a PDK. The purist in me wanted a manual but my former Cayman R was flappy paddle and I really enjoyed it, especially on Porsche Club GB track days. I also wanted an R in red and, as you know, they don't fall from trees!

you better believe it. Sold through a dealer it would be mid 40s i reckon.
it does seem very good value considering the options and upgrades.

6 years between servicing (15-21) sounds strange, possibly the advert is incorrect though.
