Dropped mine off at GT One this morning for new Porsche discs and Pagid RS-29 pads - certainly can't think about selling it until I've got my money's worth out of them :-)
I think BMW might be bringing an M2 Competition along to the evo track session on Friday, though, so never say never...

You'll be a while getting your moneys worth out of RS29s in a road car. Theyre an endurance pad, super kind to discs and last forever.I think BMW might be bringing an M2 Competition along to the evo track session on Friday, though, so never say never...
Ive been using the RS29 road/track for over 10 years, superb pad. Pretty dusty mind, but worth it for their performance.
Took a good friend (who has a lot of serious cars) out for a drive in the R last night and he was mightily impressed by its charms. Said it reminded him that its not all about the latest X, Y or Z and that 330bhp seemed more than enough for fast road use. So a few beers later we're browsing for what's out there for sale and I can now understand the difficulty others are having finding the right spec R....
We could only find 1 car with manual box, buckets and decent spec but with 42k and a rear wiper (which for my pal was a non-starter!) This was at 'Quality Cars Today' for £41,995
All of the other cars for sale (when I say 'all', there were only 4!) are PDK and 3 of those didn't have the buckets! These were priced from £37,990 (PDK, non-buckets, 54k miles) up-to £43,921 (OPC car, PDK, non-buckets, 24k miles. The one with the buckets was a private seller with 54k miles @ £42,000.
Appreciate there are only 100 manual R's in the UK but was surprised by just the single car for sale.
My pal called me this morning claiming (excuse!) that he has no more garage space and i'm a bad influence! LOL

Funny enough i was out with another friend in his R too last night, both of our cars are manual too. Every time i drive it it stuns me with how much better it gets the more you press on. It just feels so alive, like youre hard wired into the front and rear axle. To me, my R is abolutely perfect and i wouldnt change a thing... dare i say even the allure of a GT3 is becoming less of a want these days.We could only find 1 car with manual box, buckets and decent spec but with 42k and a rear wiper (which for my pal was a non-starter!) Indeed theyre not what you call 2 a penny.
However a manual box, buckets and wheels would always mean more to me than being put off by miles. These cars are made to be driven and enjoyed.
Best of luck with your search, maybe you can get him in an R if one comes up

Should be on track on Friday, so I'm looking forward to putting them through their paces - need to find a nice quiet stretch to run a bedding in cycle later tonight, though. Ive been using the RS29 road/track for over 10 years, superb pad. Pretty dusty mind, but worth it for their performance.
Yeah, cmoose warned me about the dust, too, but I'm hoping the performance will be worth a little elbow grease to keep the wheels shiny :-)

hope you can keep them from squealing. the issue with the R is heat so adding better pads just makes more heat sorry to say.Yeah, cmoose warned me about the dust, too, but I'm hoping the performance will be worth a little elbow grease to keep the wheels shiny :-)
bigger disks is key imo a nice 340mm upgrade is the easiest along with GT3 ducts.

I'm looking forward to picking my new Green one up from 911V, after reading the issues involved in finding a low miles and high spec manual Cayman R i don't feel so bad about what i just paid for the Viper car.
To be honest the only Viper green R in the country with all the right bits spec wise and low miles is the same price as an average miles black or white 997.2 C4S from an OPC so not bad value at all really.
I look forward to adding to this thread in the future.

Big congratulations on that purchase! I was even considering switching my recently purchased (also from 911V) white R for the Viper car but you buying it saved me from the dilemma! You have a stunning car there in a unique colour and I can promise you'll love it!I'm looking forward to picking my new Green one up from 911V, after reading the issues involved in finding a low miles and high spec manual Cayman R i don't feel so bad about what i just paid for the Viper car.

Can only imagine how many people were ready to pounce on the Viper car once 911V opened on Tuesday morning after the long weekend.

I spoke to Tom on Saturday about it, sadly just over budget and they couldn't take my E46 M3 as part ex... Can only imagine how many people were ready to pounce on the Viper car once 911V opened on Tuesday morning after the long weekend.
The search continues...

Seems to be pot luck on the squealing from reading around, even when they are bedded in properly - guess I'll find out soon enough. bigger disks is key imo a nice 340mm upgrade is the easiest along with GT3 ducts.
Already have the GT3 ducts fitted.
Congratulations on your Viper CR think a few of us are a tiny bit jealous. Mines similar mileage got the best bits added but Peridot .
I had a Viper Sport Ltd Edition it got mixed comments just like my Peridot marmite colours either loved or hated but who cares special cars are great in bright colours.
Never planned to buy Peridot wanted S/Y or White but they didn't exist when looking but happy with Peridot it's different looks great with the black wheels and trim.
Enjoy I know you will it's one of those cars that takes a little time to appreciate and explore to get to know it.
A few posts above refers to the allure of a GT3 don't bother unless it's a newer one I had 2 996GT3s although fantastic cars with an outstanding engine and vilant power delivery they don't make very good road cars especially in the UK they can buck around like a wild stallion.
The CR is much more suitable in my opinion more usable in every respect yes it's firm but never harsh or crashy.
Anyway enough of all that glad you found the perfect car always worth paying a little extra if it's what you want.
Enjoy.

I have driven a manual R before and enjoyed it, although it didn't have the short shift kit that this one does.
Funny you mention the GT3 as an old acquaintance of mine went 996.1 GT3 to an R and loved the R.
Anyway, i"m awfully excited having always wanted a viper car since seeing a 997.1 RS in the colour years back on an RMA trackday at Spa. Sadly one of those is well beyond my paygrade but this will fit the spot just perfectly.
I will of course report back with my initial thoughts on the car and some photo"s post collection.
Going to keep the C4S for now, Tom did make a fair offer on it but i think it's a great car and certainly a better car than it's value would suggest.
I've done a few little bits to it RSS engine mounts, centre console delete and GT3RS alcantara gear shifter and steering wheel and it really is a pukka thing.
Nice arse as well.
