hope you can keep them from squealing. the issue with the R is heat so adding better pads just makes more heat sorry to say.

bigger disks is key imo a nice 340mm upgrade is the easiest along with GT3 ducts.
Seems to be pot luck on the squealing from reading around, even when they are bedded in properly - guess I'll find out soon enough.

Already have the GT3 ducts fitted.
I’ve got RS29s all round and GiroDiscs front and rear. Mine squeeled for a while and then I gave the brakes a real solid heat cycle and they don’t squeal at all anymore. Only every now and again when braking while reversing but never when traveling forwards.
I also have titanium shims so not sure how much they help with squeal (if at all to be honest).

I’d love PCCB purely for the lack of brake dust, but this setup on mine with the larger GT3MC and brake ducts work an absolute treat road or track. smile

I used RS29s in my 600bhp Impreza and my Mini GP and have always been flawless in their performance. As said, theyre super kind to discs too and have a very low wear rate. Their only flaw is dust, however I’m sure you’ll be very pleased with their performance. smile

That's pretty much the setup I've got now, bar the Giro discs - fitted the GT3 master cylinder and ducts a while back, so looking forward to seeing how it all comes together on track tomorrow.

Did the bedding in routine late last night, and they don't appear to be squealing at all at the moment - fingers crossed they'll stay that way :-)

Just checked out the price of those Giro discs; £600 a corner! Yours must have some serious stopping power now...

Took a good friend (who has a lot of serious cars) out for a drive in the R last night and he was mightily impressed by its charms. Said it reminded him that its not all about the latest X, Y or Z and that 330bhp seemed more than enough for fast road use. So a few beers later we're browsing for what's out there for sale and I can now understand the difficulty others are having finding the right spec R....

We could only find 1 car with manual box, buckets and decent spec but with 42k and a rear wiper (which for my pal was a non-starter!) This was at 'Quality Cars Today' for £41,995

All of the other cars for sale (when I say 'all', there were only 4!) are PDK and 3 of those didn't have the buckets! These were priced from £37,990 (PDK, non-buckets, 54k miles) up-to £43,921 (OPC car, PDK, non-buckets, 24k miles. The one with the buckets was a private seller with 54k miles @ £42,000.

Appreciate there are only 100 manual R's in the UK but was surprised by just the single car for sale.

My pal called me this morning claiming (excuse!) that he has no more garage space and i'm a bad influence! LOL
Did you not see this one, 10k miles, manual, no rear wiper and all the other good bits? Best part of £49k

^ This - remember it had no PSE button even though it was listed with a sports exhaust (???) and it sold very quickly so not sure why the advert is still live.

Other than that a lovely looking example.

That's not a problem that I have as the OPC won't sell me a new car that i want to buy, well except maybe a Carrera T which i can't help but like, despite knowing it's some of the best marketing known to man to make a base car with a few bits from an S more expensive than the S time you option it up.

I'd still love one though????

I will do, i bought my C4S from Tom over the phone blind and it's a great car. Certainly one of only a few dealers i would buy blind from on their assurance of the cars quality. Testament to that is that I've not seen the R yet other than Google images and the few on here.

Tom's words are that it's a lovely, lovely and special car!!!!

Now i just need to try and get to sleepspinspinspinwoohoowoohoowoohoowoohoowoohoo

Got to say I love Peridot Green on the R. Especially as it was the launch colour.

Ok then, I only got a few as the weather was on the turn,

The car is amazing, both in appearance and to drive. I really am very impressed.
As always 911V presented the car in impeccable fashion and exactly as described.

I will post a more in depth opinion once i have a few miles under my belt in it.

It's looking rather nice...enjoy.

There's something about the shape of 987's they are lovely and curvy...its been lost somewhat on the newer cars.

No surprise really as it allowed Porsche to make the car more attractive to prospective purchasers as the tax between what they allegedly fudged it to be and what it should have been (and was in the rest of europe) was significant. The videos of Rs being unresponsive in 6th when the gas was applied indicated a software fiddle. Now it has been revealed is anyone really surprised? It was bending the rules but not breaking them, not as clever as the VW Dieselgate but understandable. How many others are out there in different markets for different regulations? My guess is that this won't be the last, it might become a hot topic with the press probing every avenue for the next 6 months - think politicians expenses, paedophiles, dangerous dogs, single use plastics - or it could be a storm in a teacup. I guess it depends if the green lobby get a hold of it and runs with it.
I just wish they had done something similar with the GT4 as the emissions and fuel economy are eye wateringly bad for the relative performance compared with competitors.

You're right that emissions and fuel economy could be better, but on balance I'm glad they didn't apply this kind of trick to the GT4.... we already hear so much whining about the GT4 has a strangled engine..blah..blah... imagine if they had then done this kind of emissions fiddle on top of that.

Thank God for the aftermarket... can tune those handcuffs off of it.
