Hi Riyad, how do you manage with no aircon in the summer?
Same as I do every summer - really doesn't bother me It was a scorcher on Sunday for Beaulieu and I was absolutely fine with the windows down a bit - I think I only ever switched on the AC in my 911 a handful of times in the three years I had it, haven't missed it once in the R.
But to be fair, mine isn't a daily, so I'm never really sitting stuck in traffic - that said, I was queueing for an hour to get into Beaulieu and it was just lovely with the windows down
A/C was a "must have" for me and I'm really glad I have it. I turned down one which didn't have it when I was looking 5 years ago. The other factor to consider is that A/C will help the car to sell better and help resale values. I did end up with a very well specced car in the end and just over 20k miles now and I'm 2nd owner. Always makes me smile on the rare occasions I get to drive it.

Honestly I never, ever think about resale values when choosing and speccing a car. I spec my cars for me, not for what the next person might want if I choose to sell itAnd with cars like these there will always be people like frayz and myself who are not just happy with a relatively pure spec, but would actively look for it.

Well for me a car is *also* an asset and the less it depreciates (or more it appreciates) the better And with cars like these there will always be people like frayz and myself who are not just happy with a relatively pure spec, but would actively look for it.

Personally i see a Cayman R as a pure drivers car and thats why it doesnt phase me to be missing the AC. Mine has a radio but truth be told it wouldnt bother that much if it didnt, ive got an ipod if i need it.
Manual gearbox, proper wheels and seats, short shifter and alcantara trim will always be far higher on my list of must haves. Mine also doesnt have PSE but instead wears Fabspeed headers and Remus titanium pipes. Its undiluted all of the time, and to be honest, just the way i like it.
Only thing i wish my car had would be PCCB but instead its got Girodiscs and RS29s all round which do the business just fine.
Different strokes for different folks, but i think Riyad is right, i dont buy a car for the next guy.
Buy it and enjoy it. Time waits for no man and none of us know whats around the corner.
I wont be on my death bed thinking... Id wish id driven my Porsche less.

Well 5 years ago when R's were more available I spent 6 months looking for the ideal spec with my list of 'must haves'. I am so glad I did as it is ideal spec for me and I wouldn't swap it for anything less.... As you say, "Different strokes....." and yes, I'll never think I wish I'd driven it less Personally i see a Cayman R as a pure drivers car and thats why it doesnt phase me to be missing the AC. Mine has a radio but truth be told it wouldnt bother that much if it didnt, ive got an ipod if i need it.

I do feel sorry for all those 964 RS owners whose cars haven't appreciated due to lack of air conditioning But as has been said, it all comes down to what you want from a car, but we shouldn't assume that what we want makes a car more valuable, because others might want something different.
The world would be a boring place if we all wanted the same thing
