Wow! Reckon you`ve a lot of car for your buck there, amazed it didn`t go sooner. Congrats!!
Really did!

Timing was just right, and was upfront about being interested, but only if the price was also right. Then with it being sat around for them for 4 months I think he was keen to shift. Declined my first offer but lead me to his bottom price, which was higher than my top (for that car) -- met in the middle and that was that.

Can't wait to get it now though, even if I'm still a bit scared about handing the keys to my M3 over..

Dropped my Clio in for a full belt service and clutch today, so that means the R is on daily duty for the rest of the week.

Great cars In The rain vs any new car as you can feel the grip.
I did 5 years in them all weathers.
Also you get to play with the balance at much lower speeds.

Has anyone fitted 11j wheels on the rear please with no issues? I'm looking for a second set of wheels for track use but really struggling to find anything in the standard R sizes. For example would these fit Rears: 11J x19 ET 51mm ? Unless anyone has a better suggestion ?

I feel that pain - but only on the grounds of having to clean it again! Did a Wales roadtrip after Simply Porsche a couple of years back, traveling from Swansea up through the middle to Snowdonia, mostly in bad rain and crappy weather. The car was awesome in the wet - so much grip and loads of fun. Still an epic roadtrip!

I remember, a few years back, turning off the A93 onto the Pitlochry road in my R with my mate behind in his Cayman S. We stopped for a quick chat (do we go to Edradour for a bottle of whisky for the evening - and obvious yes) and as we chatted we noticed steam coming off all four corners of both cars, not from the brakes, but from the tyres. They were bloody warm to the touch. These cars sure do work in the wet. Although the Pilot Super Sports on mine at the moment certainly are not my wet weather tyre of choice (PS4S in the 265 rear size were out of stock through the whole of Europe when the SS were purchased).

OZ Ultraleggeras are what you want. I have them on my heavily modded 987S. Supplied by RPM Technik.

Very similar to mine.

I've not seen another blue manual since owning my car.

Anyone know what this is for? I wondered if it was related to the remap but it seems a but excessive for that.

Looks like a vacuum line for opening exhaust valves maybe - I glanced at advert yesterday and I'm sure it said a valved capristo or similar so could be for that, newer ones usually have a remote though.

This is my Cayman. To answer your query the 'box' is a control unit for the exhaust. It's operated by remote fob with 4 programmable buttons. The re-map only enhanced the driving experience. I'm in my late 60's and have treated the car to a fair bit of tlc. It is not being used as often as it should and its wasted on me now.

Well, this may be a controversial post from me. Let's see.

I have always loved the handling of my R but at times I've felt the front could be more keen to turn in and to resist understeer on longer corners where you want to get on the early. There is a video of a car jounro on one of the Silverstone handling tracks in a 987 S and an R and what he talks about is what I have felt - like the diff wants to try and introduce a bit of push at the front end.

I have had the geo done a couple of times - OPC have done it and a local specialist. To be totally honest neither time was there a big change in how the car felt. Unfortunately there isn't a big choice of specialists for this sort of work local to me, which doesn't help.

Anyway, after reading various things about what others have done with their Rs, I decided I was going to fit 5mm spacer to the front of the car. They were not expensive and an easy DIY job, so I thought I'd give it a go. I didn't expect a big improvement as the track change was relatively modest.

I've now had the car on 3, let's say "spirited", runs. I can't believe the effect they have had. The car just feels more eager to turn and if you get on the throttle a bit early it doesn't try to understeer. It was a cheap experiment but I'm very pleased with the results, especially when I didn't expect to be able to perceive much of a difference.

I'm sure I should have had geo done after fitting them, and in time I will. But even doing nothing else I can feel a good improvement and I'm very happy. The car feels more as I want it now and better than ever to drive. So I'm a happy boy.

Now planning what I do next. Maybe wheels refurbed and colour changed. We'll see.

I have told people to fit 10mm spacers on the front only for 5 years, so 20mm wider front track.

also doing so does not need a geo, the issue is people fit rear 15mm spacers for looks which ruins the effects.

-1.5 camber and 20mm wider front track is a must have 987 tweak.

I act run -2.2 camber and 28mm more front track, 10 mm more rear which give me a net 18mm front track difference but better an overfull full track.
